I have a serious project for someone who is interested.
It is '78 dodge badged minibus that has at some point been converted into a camper.
It has had a pop top cut into the roof and all the seats removed.
I started work on it many years ago, stripped it out completely and had it media blasted, this uncovered a lot of work which I hoped to complete once my friend had space in his workshop. Since then, my friend has lost his worksdhop to a new work venture by his wife, so I now have nowhere to do the work.
So, the current state is that the bodywork is all blasted and primed, there is a very small amount of surface rust coming through on the edges of some holes, but this would all be cut out to weld. The a pillars are a little perforated from where it was stored outside prior to blasting. The roof is held on with hopes and dreams so may be a good start for a pickup project if someone was able to source a cab roof. Since blasting, it has been stored in a garage so has not deteriorated further.
All 5 doors are still in paint as these were not blasted at the time, ther is an engine and gearbox which I had running many years ago, but would need a good going over to get it singing again.
As with most projects like this, the top and bottom 6 inches are in need of attention, but the rest is pretty solid. I have all the glass to go back in, including the old seals for reference (old slightly cracked rubber) The same can be said for the ancillaries and front seats.
I have the pop top that was removed, but I would suggest this would be used as a template to build a new one if refitting as the timber parts have seen better days.
Pictures to follow once it stops raining, so August at current predictions.
The van is located in Gloucestershire
