Project Bluebell Begins.....

Well after a super hectic summer in the workshop I finally managed to get a couple of days in working on my own vans for a change!

Some of the more eagle-eyed among you may remember Bluebell which I purchased about 6 months ago. A very early Commer built in April 1960.

As you can see the poor old girl has a few rust issues and had suffered a pretty nasty fall out of the ugly tree but plans were beginning to hatch....

I needed a panel van donor, but certainly didn't want to destroy a saveable one. Thanks to Woolfy at CovComPan for a perfect tip-off which after 5 months negotiation I finally managed to buy and remove. We didn't need to do any cutting. There were no gutters at all so it just fell apart and lay on the trailer like a flatpack!

There's still plenty of work to do; everything's just tacked together at the moment but it's nice to have a fresh project underway and I'm aiming to have it out and about next summer.

oh wow looks fantastic ,not sure what others will think though, can only speak for myself. but glad to be of service with the roof though shame to see it go to wast. if anyone else is thinking of turning a camper into a van like this i may know where you can find a roof from a mini bus, actually its a whole mini bus if interested. keep up the good work bobby and speak to you soon.;):p
 
Wow that is a beaut!, must be the earliest van on the site is it?, love the front, will be fabulous when sorted[:0]
 
I was showing little Oliver these pics, I told him it's Bluebell but in the pics he was calling it Smurf! lol Bless him!
 
Cheers for all your positive comments guys.

I reckon there's a couple of weeks welding to do before it heads for the paint-booth but it seems it may be due a very hard beating with the lowering stick before that...!!!

I would like to see an update of this van as it is a very similar repair on the roof to mine.

Would also love to know how you have welded the roof on, is it just tacked or is it seam welded?
Would be great to know as I am just starting to seam weld mine and it is going to be a long and tedious job [V]
