Brilliant, I'm getting REALY excited now :D. The manual says to disconnect both choke cables when removing carbs but doesn't show the set up [V]. I guess there must be some sort of two into one affair. like a miniature handbrake set up.

Looks fabulous, ahh what do you need downpipes for - just clip the engine cover down well and go and blast out all the little vauxhall nova boys [}:)]
 
you should be able to have just the one choke cable it normally goes in the middle of the two carbs and when pulled out or in ,it moves the linkages between the two,i know this because all the triumph 2000s ive had haveallways had twin carbs and one choke.oh and looking at your photos closely i hope your gonna paint that radiator fan cover,and make sure you put a thimble full of oil in those carb chambers.:p;)
 
I was wondering how much oil to put in the carbs, i brought a bottle of Penrite oil off Ebay, but i am unsure to how much to put in..

I've always just used engine oil and filled to the shoulder just below the thread :I.
 
you should take the black top off and fill it up about half way, which is about a thimble full or so,then you need to put the lid back in its place but instead of just tightening it straight down you need two push it up and down the chamber to feel a nice tight compression,some of the fluid will sink slightly ,then you should refill back up to the half way mark,as before,thats how you get them primed just right.:p;)

Fitted up a new throttle cable today, made out of new bike brake cable, and yes it works very well.The nipple is the same fit as the Hunter cable..Fitted 2 new choke cables as well.unlike other twin stromberg setups there isnt provision to link the chokes together,but maybe there is and i dont just see it..lol!..
Ive got to wait till next week before i can borrow the strobe gun to set the timing right though..
 
You can get the timing about right by lining up the timing marks, loosen the dizzy and remove cap then (with ignition on) slowly twist the dizzy until the points spark. Obviously have to set points gap accurately as possible. Sorry if I'm telling you stuff you already know :I
 
I've got a pull-lift and a couple of web slings borrowed from work so engine will be out tomorrow :D
 
Come on Paul it's been at least 3 days since you got the pipes, did you get them to fit [?]
