I was going to ask fordy... how did the rewiring go; it is one of the things on my to do list that I dread!
 
Well, to be honest i pulled the wires off the starter solenoid without marking them beforehand, so when i came to wire her back up, i was kind of 'lost' to which goes where...:I..
Hence the phonecall to Martin.

Ive yet to work out what the switch does that is mounted on the passenger side wheel arch in the same place the manual choke control is on the opposite, it connects to the starter solenoid.I think it might be a cut off switch, but ill look into that another day.
Ill take photos of any wiring in future before...;)
 
90 quid for a pair of new rear wheel cylinders!![:0][:0](inc postage)...and people have the cheek to moan about the price of BMW parts!!!!????..

One hell of a good reason to maintain those rear cylinders guys!..

Fitted the oil pressure gauge i got from Martin today...the original sender wouldnt come free from the block so i found one of these on ebay which i think is pretty much the same and recommend if your thinking of adding a pressure gauge if you already havent got one..

Almost 50 PSI showing on the gauge...what a powerhouse!!..lol!

Well the saga continues...[}:)]...

I now have fitted the new rear wheel cylinders, im quite dissapointed that no new bleed nipples were supplied!..[V],The old ones cleaned up well though.All the new brake pipes are in place, and ive replumbed the fluid resovoir(damn i can never spell that word correctly).Ive stripped the numerous layers of red oxide paint from the front wheels ready for painting.All the electrics work fine now, though the horn sounds like a dying elephant!![V].
I have two pieces of welding to attend to, one being under the drivers seat and the other underneath at the back of the van....seems whilst everybody else will be heading for the coast ill be out on the drive getting dirty..

I didnt do much at all today, i had intended to have a full day on her but i went out on the lash last night and woke up this morning with a thick head!![xx(]..
So i sorted the carburettor problem, turns out that i rebuilt the thing with the wrong floats and needle valve..:I, after stripping it several times i noticed the difference in size.She runs lovely now and starts without hesitation.Ive replaced the original fuel pipe that runs from the pump to the carb with something more substantial.
Tommorow i will definately spend the day on her, today just didnt happen , what finished me off was grabbing my soldering iron by the wrong end..[V].Yes you can guess my joy as it stuck to the palm of my hand...

I brought the hubcaps of Ebay, pricey i know but she needs em!...id better get the wheels painted! [}:)]
 
Oooh that smarts [xx(]. Had a tentative effort at rubbing down the Mini boot lid today, paint hasn't quite hardened enough yet but the small area I started on looks promising. I'll have another bash when we're back off hols. Good to here the carb you bought was a good 'n after all, sounds like you're as bad as me for shiny things you should see the box full of stuff I've got for the Min [8D][8D]

Took the rear shock absorbers off today, cleaned em up and gave em a quick polish, more shiny bits!!, haha!.Fitted the new link bars i brought a while back as well.Removed all the gunk from the rear springs as well with a drill and wire brush attachment..i can still taste the muck now..[}:)].
The engine compartment lid and surrounding metalwork and now bare metal ready for paint.Wont be long before i can put the seats back in!!:D:D:D.Going away next week on a narrowboat journey with me sister and her kids so im trying to get what i can done now.

Them narrow boats are bit like commers, turn the wheel and they eventually go where you want, slowly :D
Finished stripping the minibus today, just glad I didn't try restoring it[^]
 
Crikey its been ages since i did any work on her..:I...
Today though i got the braking sytem bled and she now stops,(gradually in true 'commer style')[}:)]..
The pedals to my liking, i can see why though these buses were not built with speed in mind.All four wheels are stripped and ready for the paint now before i can stick on mi shiny new hubcaps!:D.I was gonna do the clearances on the top end as well today but forgot the gap size [V].Thinking about it now the dirty work is all done, well apart from wire brushing the underneath of the van!:(, man that is not going to be any fun!.

Well i have plenty to do this weekend!, i have stripped the cab floor and wheel arches back to bare metal.There is some surface rust but that should surrender itself when i advance with the power sander!![}:)].I should have it primed and finished over the weekend.

The two inspection hole caps i have removed, they were quite rusty and hopefully Woolfy will get me a pair made up.

There's the hole that needs welding, the ID plate sits there, hence all the smaller holes.This hole is one of three that needs welding for the MOT, the other two being smaller as well!:D.

My new Orange curtains for the Van arrived this week!, yes orange to match the orange interior!..[}:)].I feel the 'retro' interior look will suit this van totally.
