Prices.............

Didnt want to hi jack Pixies for sale thread further,so new thread...Im not knocking anyone on here either .Just Im astonished to see some of the prices ! If someone sells something in a hyped market, good luck to them !Has this Commer awareness been borne out of split vw prices? Went to v dubbin last yr at Paignton ..some of 'em were £20,000!!! Rat look as well !Ive always liked commers since my early experiences which Ive mentioned on other threads .So Im not in this'phase' due to vw prices.Dont particularly like vw's anyway.Ive always liked 'small vans 'eg hiace, mazda etc (see my site for what I did to aHiace etc)www.rodschopshop.co.uk .
You gotta agree tho' that what was once 'an old van' in someones driveway festering away ,or little used, and also frowned upon due to the more modern campers,is now a money box!Astounding!

Its the way the markets gone, same with most classic cars, once there's demand the prices will go up!

People arn't fussed about going abroad these days, and since b&b's suck, campers are the practical alternative.

You put a £6k Commer with all its charm against a brand new Kon-Tiki or whatever at £45k and figure out which one you'd buy...

Its the way its going, so buy now!

I agree, but how many more will come out of the woodwork?can there be many more survivors?I am one who loved vw's,i didn't know commers even existed :II was actively seeking any alternative to a vw for quite a few months, before getting my babies,i may not of bought all 3 if i had of known there are a quite a few about.one of the reasons for buying though was because theres this forum, where i can chat, find stuff out,& source parts when needed.i did not have any joy with the Austin j2,found it really difficult to get any replies on the internet etc.so has the forum contributed to pushing prices up???saying all that i think they are great would not want to part with mine, good job i have 3!the kids now want one each!!can you blame them!

It's been the same with classics for as long as I can remember. What was it like in the 80's things went crazy, I now of a guy who was offered 10k for an E Type needing a total rebuild, in 1985 [:0]. He refused saying he was going to restore it, it's still in his garage untouched. What is it worth now probably not 10k. As 2002gimp says it's all supply and demand, if someone wants something bad enough they will pay the price. I'm just keeping what I've got cos I love it [^]
