You should be able to remember them two - they ate a lot, drank like fishes, stayed for three weeks and had the grandparents round for tea on Thursdays :)

I think the real problem for the increase in prices is due to the fact that there now exists a group (us) that didn't exist before - we were just a bunch of unconnected individuals with the same passion. Now however there is a place for us to meet (here)and we have become a group, which raise the profile of Commers, and the prices follow.

SO really, following this logic, Admin is to blame for the prices going North.

Grrrrrr Admin!!!! :(

I'll give him a chinese burn when I catch him......
 
Some of the resentfull people who used to run VWs before all the prices went stupid call it "scene tax" but anything retro looking in the past few months has gone through the roof.The bargains are still out there its just you have to hunt for them and not always take the easy option unless you desparatley need it to keep your van going;)
 
It's also about what you want to use the van for once you've got the parts.

If you're not planning on selling the van the cost of that part etc can be spread over the number of years of use you'll get.

Even with Woolfy restoring Patience for a fantastic price I'll never get back the money I've spent, but the value to me of a totally solid, good as new, perfect for my disability van that I can use for years to come means that the outlay isn't about turning a quick profit on the van but about peace of mind for years to come.
