Have you checked the dizzy to manifold vacuum pipe [?]

Yes, and run hot, as it will be sucking in air and not advancing the timing. It would feel sluggish.
You may have a leaky inlet manifold gasket, or a sticky throttle

well i'm very pleased for you Mark ...just goes to prove though that the AA man didn't exactly look very hard did he!! ...dead chuffed for you mate ...we was lucky with our AA man he spent over an hour getting us back on the road........If you think about it, how much did your AA man waste in resources with relay trucks/wages/hire car costs and customer dis-satisfaction when he could of fixed it very easily...it bumps up insurance costs for everybody[!]

i took the po van out earlier for its usual weekly spin[^] about 10 mins into the journey i was pulled over by the boys in blue i knew it could not be for speeding as i was going up hill:I anyway it turns out my lights are faulty whenever i braked my n,s indicator would light up as well and when i switched on the indicator both brake light and indicator would flash[V] and front indicator would stay lit anyway i take it this is a earthing problem ,is it likely to be at fault in the rear cluster please? the coppers had never seen a van like it before and seemed quite interested in its history[8D] and i never got a ticket[^]
