Points gap and dwell angle

Hi,
Does anyone know what the points gap is for the 1725 with a Lucas 45D Dizzy? Also, I am trying to find out what the dwell angle is supposed to be.

Any help gratefully received!

Cheers

Dave

Hi Dave. Points gap is 15 thou (0.38mm) and dwell angle is 51 deg + or - 5 deg.

Can I assume that the 51 deg + or - 5 deg means that it can be set between 46 and 56 aiming for about 51.

Sorry if this is a stupid question but I'm just learning about setting up the points.

Cheers

Dave

Best thing to do is take the points off stamp on them and throw them in the bin and buy an electronic ignition kit for a morris minor wire on each side of the coil job done you will never have to touch it again :D

That's what the manual says. I found different gaps on every lobe on the dizzy so I set at an average of them all then checked with the dwell angle meter, wasn't too far out. I do agree with Tim and Jon, one less thing to give you hassle.

Thanks for all your replies.

I will stick with mechanical for now as I've just ordered al the bits from speedys but when I have the money will convert to electronic. Me thinks that lumention+K&N filter + RC40 exhaust should give me the best I can expect from the engine.

my leccie ignition arrived this week so I can let you know how the full set of mods works - the first 2 (RC40 and K&N) are super! I was happily cruising at 60+ last weekend!

cheers

That's brilliant, I can't wait to see how similar mods will affect an ally head engined conversion :p
