pls pls help

hi all im having a few probs.

ive recently had a rc40 exhaust and k&n air filter fitted to kermit but since its been done ive lost alot of power and my temp seems alot higher than b4

when i first go out all seems fine but after only a short time the exhaust gets louder the engine gets hotter and i lose what i can only say is compression. it wont hold idle when i stop at lights even when ive turned it to about 3000rpm and if i tackle a hill witch b4 i would fly up it struggles like made and pops farts and bangs until i drop it down a gear and then screems for me to change gear again

its very frustrating as ive seen nothing but good results on here from people that have done the same done by the same person so i know it is nothing to do with how its been fitted

pls pls pls pls pls pls pls pls pls pls help or im reaching for the sledge hammer

ps ive tried the mixture in verious positions and still no better

Oh No :I
Really not sure what to make of this [B)]
Rich are you sure the manifold joint is ok [?]
is it overheating or just the gauge [?]
I suspect its a bit rich now, black sooty plugs will confirm it.
It does seem like something else is wrong, perhaps checking all the tappets and a compression test may reveal something. Could even be the head gasket.

its driving me mad mate ive changed the heat sensor but still the same if i run with the heater and kenlow fan on it sits just in the red if not it hits the roof but the lack of power is the main thing for me it just seems to have lost all its guts unless its a down hill run. ive been away this weekend and i cant keep up with the other vans anymore and ended up driving all the up hill sections watching my mates vans get smaller and smaller

Are you running points and condensor or have you gone electronic?

If points they or the condensor may be at fault.

If electronic check all the connections earths etc.

thing is it run perfectly fine on route and as soon a i left it all went wrong i even went back and tim messed about with the carb for me but nothing worked it just feels very flat

could the new exhaust be blocked?

if its just a K&N and the rc40, whipping off the filter for a bit would tell you whethe its the exhaust of the filter.

Wap the original airfilter back on just to rule out the K&N, i had very similar symptoms on my carlton gsi and i think it didnt like suckin warm air, i know its a completely different animal but for the time it takes, its worth a try. good luck;)

Dont try and lead me astray....i know the way myself!!
