Peugeot Engine???

Hi,
My second van, a LDV Pilot is rusty and dying. It has a 1.9litre diesel Peugeot engine in it which has done 140,000 miles and running well. As I wrote an advert on gumtree this morning trying to sell the rusty shell due to the condition of the engine, I had a brainwave.....
Could I manage to fit the Peugeot diesel engine in the engine bay of a commer...???? I'm sure tramps would love the powerful lease of life, aslong as the operation wasn't too enduring....
Anyone know the peugeot engine well enough to know whether this transplant would be possible??
I'd love to hear any thoughts on the matter.
Cheers

Yes yes do it !!!!
You have a XUD 1.9 diesel engine with a 5 speed manual and a rear axle with the correct stud patten for the original wheels

I spent ages looking for a xud ldv as a donor for my Dodge before giving up and using something else...........

I'm convinced the Pilot is a Commer upgrade kit on wheels. As far as I can find out the pilot axle is only an inch, maybe two wider than the Commer one.

There's more on this van on the minor site but I forgot to bookmark it

mmmm. Got me thinking:D

I sorted my garage into 4 piles of stuff.
1. Stuff I`m keeping
2. Stuff I`m not getting rid of.
3. Stuff I might use..one day.
4. Stuff that might come in handy.

great :D
thanks guys... Getting the message I should keep the engine...
Gotta decide soon, as the pilot only has another 4days of MOT, after this she can't be driven away and the selling option won't be so easy...
;)

Im not saying this is the same engine as to what your talking about but I really dont know what ford engine this is.
It was in my van when I got it and OMG it was so badly put in and was never really going to fit without major modifications.
Anyway here is how not to do it :)
