Been really busy (work and Scout Camp) but managed to get a five day break away in the van just before, just had the chance to upload the photos.
Nice site right next to the Bluebell Railway called Wo Wo. Each site has a large fire circle and there is a huge central marquee they run events in i.e paella/chilli nights and entertainment (musicians stay free if they play at the events I think (+ two mates). Also a big wet weather barn with piano etc. Nice pub a short walk through the forest and 5 min walk to the Bluebell Railway (if you just want to check out the trains get a platform ticket for £2.50).
First chance to try out the awning too, fits good, stays up and loadsa space.
Got some help getting him back on the drive too......
Not quite as planned yesterday[B)] Lovely weather so thought we would go out for a spin. Coaxed into life and runing fine but then died after going to pull away (out on the road! Why not on the drive[V]).
Would start intermittently but than die again completely randomly i.e might be straight away or after 10 mins.
Turned out the HT lead from the coil to dizzy had been shorting onto the heater hose[xx(] Only found out (having been thinking was fuel related) by the 'I think we can hear a spark from somewhere around there, wiggle the lead and it died'. Had to resort to a full set from Halfords (it being sunday)but it has made a big difference to performance so presumably an underlying issue (there was a mark on the hose so presumably been doing it for a while). It was shorting from some sort of link connector added at some point to the lead (to boost spark??). ANyway other than a serously stuck throttle caused by the cable end jamming under the throttle link at the carb on the test run (from revving it manually while fault finding presumbly) it seems to be solvedJust hope for another nice day now[8D]
Yep, only 5 or 10 min walk from the site. Actually went twice as the platform ticket is only £2.50 and Stanley loved just charging round the engine shed etc and watching the trains come in and out.
12 more months on the road Must do more miles this year I think the MOT man is used to a few more on the clock in a year (although I need to dig out the old certificate as I am sure we did more than 100:I:I. No advisories but next job is to replace the brake master cylinder as the repair kit was no good, brakes much more positive since bleeding them (having stripped out the cylinder to find the kit doesn't fit) and the balance was as near as perfect on the test so well happy with that. Can't understand the cylinder must have had a different one fitted at some point as neither the older or newer one from speedies fitted. What master cylinder do most people use when replacing is there a good upgrade?
I sorted my garage into 4 piles of stuff.
1. Stuff I`m keeping
2. Stuff I`m not getting rid of.
3. Stuff I might use..one day.
4. Stuff that might come in handy.
We have been total rubbish about keeping this up to date, I keep doing bits to the van and forget any photos at the time . Most of it goes to plan too so don't make good stories either. Well here is a poor photo of my new brake master cylinder. Had it sitting around for a while got it from MR M just before MOT but it passed without the new one. Decided best to change it anyway. Also took the rocker assembled apart and cleaned all the holes etc to get good oil flow as bit dry at one end. All looked good when apart so with lots of lovely new oil squirting through should be good for a while. Oh ye halfords classic oil is buy one get one half price if you want an incentive to do your oil
stage 1 of cunning plan to adapt the garage succesful van clears door opening now just got to do doors and roof now I wish I had a before shot of garage in new house as it certainly took a bit of work to get to this point. Have blitzed all the surface rust from the frame and just need to use up some of my bulk buy aqua steel and then paint it and roof can go on. Good job as the cover won't make another winter[B)]
Going to try and make a 2/3 1/3 set of doors for easy access to the back.
