Percy The PA

Right can't let Commerfest go by without a post on the readers ride thread (we use it to remember what we have done although I still need to fill quite a few gaps on that).

586 miles. 25.6 mpg which fully loaded with four of us (yes I know one is small but he has a lot of stuff) is pretty good.

Van went a treat all the way, just kept topping up the rear diff but it only took 200ml the whole journey. That oil seal is the next job. We lost no oil or water from the engine although the oil light did flicker once as we pulled up to our last stop before home after 2 1/2 hours flat out on the motorway as we came to idle in the services (not sure why, maybe post on the mechanical tips thread) Oil level was fine and we didn't see it again.

This was out first camping session in the van and it was brill, so much more comfy than all of our tents.

Oh and if you want a fast commervoy don't pick us:I

You are all stuck with us now. ha ha ha ha ha!

Going fast ain't what its all about. Percy is a peach[^]
The oil light coming on at idle is probably because of the high speed run you did:) maybe not breaking the speed limit but the engine was working hard and so was the oil. Maybe the tick over is a little slow - keep an eye on it during normal use.

Productive weekend on the van. Did the pinion oil seal and got my first lesson in Tappet adjustment. Oil seal went in fine it was just getting the nut off (as always). Managed to count the turns on the nut and remember it;) Tappets are now silent just a couple a bit loose but not very much. After the 6th one I had kind of got the fine adjustment needed:)

Main problem was getting him going. Bit weird but when the plug came out to check for a spark it started on three cylinders and has been sweet ever since starting on the button. Clutch had stuck too but a quick couple of reverse starts with the clutch down freed it. I am lucky to have such a good mechanic to teach me[B)]

Run out today and there is no oil from the diff and it is running lovely, or maybe it was just the sunny weather;)

Sunny weather and Commers - you can't beat it[8D]
Nice bit of maintenance done, good job[^]

And relax

Wow what weather. Had a nice trip to Bentley Wildfowl and Motor Museum with Grandad's new toy[8D] Percy behaved very well as always, he definitely likes being out every weekend rather than once a fortnight/three weeks like it is in the winter:p

Bingo Iceman. I suspect it will remain a permemant bodge!

Narrow lanes (not that narrow it has two lanes) and oncoming vheicles deciding they want 1 1/2 lanes necessitated a save the panels moment[}:)][}:)]

Can't believe the glass didn't smash it took a clout, maybe the fall into the bush cushioned it! Luckily I could pull over relatviely soon before I forgot where it was;)
