Percy the Highwayman

Fixed the non existent handbrake today.

Instantly saw what has happed. The pin that the lever pivots on in the brake assembly had fallen out.Pin put back on with a new clip to hold it and all seemed well after a bit of adjusting. Anybody know the requirements for handbrake on the MOT.I couldnt turn the wheel by hand when jacked up with the handbrake on- is that enough?[?]

Woohoo! Congratulations! great to see that all your hard work has paid off. Weather is looking great for a celebratory drive this weekend....

That's excellent news - well done ! [8D]

Good to have some news to cheer me up after our van went badly wrong today.

Just a quick bump up forum for Percy:D

Only 1 camping trip out this year after all my hard work painting and MOTing him. Has proved an excellent surfwagon though, nice to get changed in a big camper than the windswept clifftops of North Norfolk.;)

Moving house in a couple of weeks and hopefully come spring he will be out in force again.

I need some ideas on what to do next year, paint is pretty much done. Now running better with the new carb.I suppose I could get the overdrive working properly, maybe some new wheels....lol

Looks like I will be busy either way.Stil dont know wether to find a panel van to do or a sit up and beg Ford Pop streetrod style as another project

Panel van every time everyones done a ford pop and everythings been done to a ford pop! do it in a saltflat racer style with moon-disc wheel trims!:p:p;):D[8D]

Finding a panel van is easier said than done. Though it has been mentioned before to buy a camper then weld up the windows.

Though I would feel bad to deny a family of a perfectly good camper when theres me welding up the windows when I already have a Highwayman. Maybe im too goodhearted and need to be more ruthless when it comes to getting one-lol

Nice to hear that you're still Commering up in North Norfolk [8D]

Sounds like you've got your hands full with house move, otherwise would I suggested a late season joint Commer catch up at the coast (now that's a bit of a mouthful !).

We're contemplating the Rustoleum route as part of our resto plans, so interested to see the good work you've done on Percy as inspiration ;)

Good luck with the move.

Im thinking of selling Percy

Not sure yet, dont really use him enough as a camper- only once this year and seems a shame to have him MOT'd and readyto go but only creep out if we want to get in the garage.

Anyone interested?

Sad to hear that, after all or hard work :(

Do you not think that you may get more use out of him next year, now all the painting etc has been done [?]

Cazz...Is just Commer mad, and talks a load of nonsense

Id still have a Commer, just a more practical one is Woolfy style crew cab:D

Yes, I agree probably next year we will use him more. We havent had a chance this year. Ive worked a day job and worked nights as a doorman and Angies worked 3 jobs to get the money for the deposit for the house. We did it in 8 months-lol
