I get mine from Vehicle Wiring Products, if you buy them in batches of 50 they work out quite cheap - and I doubt I'll ever need to get any more now!

This morning I had a little look at the overdrive switch and associated wiring in the hope that there would be an obviously broken/disconnected wire to explain the apparent non-functioning of the o/d. No such luck, everything looked to be intact. It was too cold to get down underneath to lok at the gearbox end so i decided to upgrade the interior light. The standard festoon bulb was, as with most classics, a bit on the dim side. Adapting an idea from LNK (my Imp) I added two strips of bright LEDs, about 12 in total I think. I have left the bulb in as well for now as it helps to locate one of the connectors for the LEDs. I'm at work at the moment but if I remember I'll take a pic when I get home in the small hours to show how it looks.

I might try to get under Peggy tomorrow and look at the gearbox/overdrive end of the wiring.

Ok here's some pics from last night, got home early! All taken with no flash.

This is Peggy slighlty illuminated by the neighbour's security light:

This is without the security light:

These are with the interior light switched on:

I should have taken one with just the festoon bulb but fitting the LEDs is quite fiddly so I didn't! I think you can now get a direct LED replacement for the festoon bulb which would be an easier option. Much more light though and less amps!

Yes you can get festoons with leds built in :) i run led bulbs in every single locations apart from my headlights (hids) in my car. So much better than standards

You're not wrong Paul. LNK (my Imp) only has normal bulbs in the headlights and front side lights. The side lights will be changed for LEDs when I get around to it.

Where do you buy your LEDs Baz? I bought a cheapo festoon one from eBay once. The light was whiter, but definitely not brighter. I forget how many LEDs it had in it, but I guess they weren't as bright as others on the market.

The ones in the interior light come in strips, from Maplin I think.
Similar to this: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=218015

The ones in LNK came with the car but are avaialble from most car type places.

Cool thanks. One thing I do want to do is change the instrument lights to LED, as the lighting should be crisper. Will probably need to go to Maplin or Halfrauds with old bulb in hand to make sure I get the right one.

That's something I plan to do as well, maybe even go for a subtle colour?

Ive had no issue with ebay HK cheapies, infact they have lasted longer than my halfords ones! Has anybody fitted Hids to a commer yet? I have been toying with the idea of converting a lamp to take a projector and running them

I'll be upgrading Peggy to halogens with a pair of spots as back-up. I'll also replace the push-on style front sidelights and indicators with the earlier Imp type screw on ones as i think they look nicer.

Yeah I know, but with a garage to pay for HIDs are too expensive!

Peggy's new HiFi arrived today so after a trip to Suffolk to collect a spare Imp engine I fitted it. It has a 10 disc CD changer which for now I've mounted under the bench behind the passenger seat, the head unit is temporarily mounted under the dash in the centre. It all works but only front speakers fitted at the moment. The windscreen aerial may not be too good, reception is a bit crackly but we'll see.

No photos at the moment but Peggy is going out tonight to the local Imp Club monthly meeting near Heathrow which means a run along the M25. This will be her first run since getting the MOT so wish us luck!

Well, she made it to the MOT and back no problems, and that was about 22 miles altogether. This will be more like 50-60 miles there and back.
I'll be leaving about 7pm.
