Yep, direct replacement of the Radio i currently have in place. My Radio is so old i don't even think it has an FM frequency?
Are you fitting one too then?

Had a bit of a lie-in today (woke up at 12.30pm!). So after a quick coffee I set out to sort a few things with Peggy. A lot of it was wiring based behind the dash so not much to see. First job was to fit the windscreen mounted radio aerial. This sticks to the inside of the screen and has a power and earth connection for the built-in signal amplifier. I mounted it on the passenger side rather than centrally as it made it easier to connect the earth to an existing screw (sun visor bracket).
The co-ax and power lead are then fed along the windscreen edge (tucked into the edge of the seal) and down the nearside towards the dash area. You can just see the cable exiting under the black section of the dash here:
The cables then go off to the stereo where they are connected to the aerial socket of the stereo and a power feed (shared with the stereo).
I also replaced the washer bottle with a new one and adjusted the washer jets to get a reasonable spray onto the screen. Took ages actually but I think I got there in the end.
One thing I did find was some truly attrocious wiring behind the dash. Power cables twisted together and taped over, wires going nowhere, wires bundled up together etc etc. I stripped a lot of the superfluous wires out and also added an earth terminal which can have 6 seperate earths attached rather than the mutitude of body screws and self tapper screws currently in use. I can see that most of the wiring under the dash will end up being renewed as I go along.
That's all for now. The stereo should arrive next week so hopefully I can have it up and running by the weekend.
Other main job is to look at the o/d wiring and try to find out why it doesn't seem to work.

Absolutely! The single earth is a good one, well now it is anyway, and it just replaces a few scattered ones in that general area. There are others that will be tidied into common earths eventually.

Absolutely! The single earth is a good one, well now it is anyway, and it just replaces a few scattered ones in that general area. There are others that will be tidied into common earths eventually.

I get mine from Vehicle Wiring Products, if you buy them in batches of 50 they work out quite cheap - and I doubt I'll ever need to get any more now!
