PEGGY

cheers guys, upon first inspection (not a very comprehensive one!) she has a leak in the roof which needs to be sorted before anything else - maybe next week. Rot on bottom of doors and front valance neither of which should affect getting an MOT. Brakes lights stuck on - should be a simple fix. I'll get under her and have a good poke but initial examination when on trailer etc looks promising. Lights all seem to work as do the brakes but they will probably need a bit of a service after a couple of years, new fluid etc. check and change fluids and then book her in for the MOT in a few weeks probably.

Point to note - the brake lights come on with the hand brake :I so there might not be a problem there.

Congratulations on getting it home, Baz! Excellent stuff. And it looks good too! :)

You ought to get that roof leak sorted before the interior is damaged, though. I'm kicking myself for not being more observant with my first Highwayman, as that had leaks in the roof. Sadly, I didn't know it was leaking, and - after being parked outside for a while at my granny's house - it needs the interior to be completely rebuilt [V]

Bazz is peggy parked nice & level,Sybhils roof leaks in certain positions but ok if level, when you go for the mot don't forget the hand brake works on the front wheels if you tell the mot man should save you from a fail! don't forget to check the horn, wipers & washer.

All noted, cheers guys !

I was just telling a colleague at work about my trip and he googled Commer PA Highwayman to see what one looked like. The first image? Peggy! Also, pics of LNK and Madge appear on the same search?! how cool is that?

To be honest I only had time to park her up and go to sleep before coming into work. If the weather is kind tomorrow I'll have a closer look at the leak and erect a temporary tarp' to keep the worst of it off. I've got all next week off so hope to do a few bits and maybe even put her through the MOT.

No, not yet. I want to make sure she's water-tight and dry before I do that.

Congrats on the acquisition... on the google front I am still proud that CVF turns out number one on google for a one word "commer" search

Having just bought a bed for the house I'm not planning on missing out on it for a while. For the last 3 yrs I've had to make do with a single bed. Now I have a nice big Super King-size one which is absolutely superb!

First chance to have a quick look around Peggy this morning. Panky was right about the handbrake operating the brake lights, presumably this was something to do with it operating on the fronts?

Running quite rich at the moment so a general service will be done at some point. The washers are electric but very feeble, not sure if the nozzles are a bit blocked or if the pipe is leaking somewhere, maybe the pump is no good?

Conditions aren't good for working on her at the moment so she'll probably have to wait for a few consecutive dry days before I can get at her.

Noticed that the peak has some of the usual rot in it. Something tells me that Peggy is going to be a long term project much like Madge and LNK.

Nice one Baz, 05:30 that was even later than me!;)

Damn weather I know the feeling got a brake servo coming (I think from Commerjules), air filter etc waiting, new window rubbers and lock, battery isolaters and bits a ton of oil and grease to put in all the right places but tonnes of rain and wind means I just haven't been able to get out and do it really as I think the van is happy tucked up under the cover which at the mo is still surviving:D.

I need a big house with huge garage for xmas I think:p

A large garage is no1 on my to do list for the new house. Trouble is I don't think I can afford to build the one I want.

Right, well having given Peggy a quick once over I can't see anything obvious to cause a problem (other than weak washers) so I have booked her in for an MOT tomorrow morning!
Fingers crossed. It's a 10 mile run to the MOT garage so hopefully any driving issues will show up en route.

She's only done just over 400 miles since the last MOT 4.5 yrs ago and was kept in a dry barn until this summer so hopefully there shouldn't be too much wrong with her.

Wish us luck!
