That looks some range for the same work[:0]
Is that re-sprayers advertising on this website or re-sprayers local to you[?]

The £3000 was for everything to be taped up and the £6000 was for all the lights etc to be removed and then sprayed. They are in worcester.

Looks like you must go to Dundee;)

HI, IT WAS A BIT OF A MESS BEFORE THE RE-SPRAY,BUT THE GUY WHO PAINTED IT DONE ALL OF THE WORK,IT IS TWO PACK PAINT AND HE MADE A FIRST CLASS JOB, AND IT COST ME ALL IN 1200 QUID, WHICH I THOUGHT WAS NOT TOO BAD :).

fraser reid

I would keep looking for prices when I had marbles I had prices from 1300 to 3300 all offering the same kind of work and paint. some over price I think. the labour in the prep work before the spray is what the charge is mainly made up from, so if you ask them what you could do in terms of the prep work making the job easyer for them you might find the prices drops some what[?]:I:):D[8D]

As the link above reads 2 pack that's what I was looking at as well as for colour I would see if Wollfy had any orange love that colour :p

It might be advisable to get some aerosols mixed to match your paint and just do the repairs for now, that way you can see if they are sound. Maybe next year get the lot done in the knowledge that what's underneath won't bubble through:)

How refreshing

Has the body shop seen the van or is that a phone estimate ?

As for the paint to use 2K is a bit tricky to get (its been outlawed for 5 years) but there are ways around it. If you go to "the bike hut" they would sell you a water borne paint that must be clear coated and you prep must be spot on for water as you will see every little thing when its cleared !

As a rule of thumb for you
1 pack enamel / poly will only go over its self and nothing will go over it
celly will only go over its self but anything will go over it
2 pack will go over anything and anything will go over it !
(2k will go over 1k but it has to be fully cured 1k and needs a bar coat first)

Water borne paint systems still use a 2k clear coat to seal the base and as a rule the base will go over most other products depending on which system you use some are acrylic based and others are latex based and you need to adjust things to suit.

Hope that helps
if you have any questions I'll try and help

If it helps you to get an idea price-wise I spoke to a local sprayer who quoted me £2000 all in from prep to finish. (I was asked to remove lights, badges, etc). Have to agree that's a wild difference in price and to be fair if he's seen your vehicle in my humble opinion he should have a better idea than that. Quoting the difference of three hundred quid is more like it rather than a difference of three grand! I offered to do all the prep work as in filling, sanding and flatting but he declined, he insisted that should be done at the workshop by his guys, which is fair enough because in reality its all the prep before that'll make the difference to the job that he's putting his name to.

Very true the prep is very important in getting a top finish with the spray. but as John said the price shouldn't jump so much maybe look at traveling abit further
