As we have two vans to respray and want them to be original colours... I will also scan properly and put on the main site (if I win that is!!)

was anyone here mad enough to pay this?

too rich for my tastes!

But if you're out there it would be good to share the wealth? Scan the colours and put the codes up so we can get our vans original

Hi
I'm a new member but some current members such as Steve and Hugh know me.
Shocked about the £48 for Commer Swatches! I do recall that at least some Commercial colours are same as for cars even if have different ID number. I also have access to some ICI Swatches, fiche and paint books inc mixing formula, SO as long as no one expects instant miracles I'm up for trying to help match colours

Steve

I am another who has a good selection of old auto paint related info. This is mostly just general catalogues and colour charts from the various paint manufacturers around in the fifties, sixties and seventies but I have a few Rootes specific items as well (and I think somewhere I may even have saved some interior fabric swatches).

I'm also in touch with several professional restorers and painters and they can often provide hints or other contacts for methods to match old to modern. My most recent paint purchase was via a specific 'RAL' code which is some sort of universal standard that should ensure that you get a pretty close match each time you order a quantity, regardless of who supplies a particular batch.

I also have a small stash of original Rootes/Chrysler colours in cellulose. These are mainly one pint tins and in most cases there would only be enough for touch-up levels of activity. Seacrest Blue anyone? However, this is very much a personal hoard with some amazing seventies metallics included and I'm not really fishing for opportunities to move any of it on just yetawhile.

That should have been "Seacrest Green" of course. There are a few entries for "Seacrest Blue" that can be found via a Google search and it may even be a glaze colour for ceramic use but I don't think it was a shade that Rootes adopted.

Hi Hugh, I noticed on your parts list you have an auto gear lever, if you still have it, I need one for the Detector.
