just joined the community thanks to martin and karen who said you might like a few pics of one of my commers!first registered in july 1962 and laid up in a barn in suffolk on a dry hardstanding from 1968 until we bought it in february 2000 just before it was banger raced at ipswich!!!the van had only done 30000 miles before being laid up and ran immediately with petrol,points and plugs,as you will see it was originally ROOTES SEACREST GREEN and we sprayed it in that colour but it was hideous!so we decided to strip it back again and create a ROOTES service van from the early 1960s,the van has not yet been out so this is its debut,martin,karen and woolfy are the only people anywhere who have seen this,hope you like it

id just like to butt in here and say,if it ever gets sold (IM HAVING IT) so dont get any ideas anyone,or there will be trouble you all saw what happens to me when i get angry, show them panky.

That is one amazing van, great job - did you have any reference books or pics to get colour and advert from?
If you are willing would love to get a full photo of it (once you have it somewhere that you can stand far enough back!) to add to the image archive I have of Commer adverts - it really looks the part

woolfy ,if you have a word with martin he has our works number.
years ago all rootes dealers had a big oval enamel sign in yellow with rootes service in blue,we decided to recreate something of our own design based on the colours of the rootes sign,the blue is just a mixed colour as close as possible to the sign and the yellow is a simca colour.the big rootes logo along the side exactly matches the original service sign.the phone numbers and adresses are the originals for the rootes parts deparment from the early 1960s,next project is to rack out the back and fill it with original rootes bits and service items

It really does look the part, I could be persuaded to part with my rootes group emergency replacement windscreen still in its' packaging tube if you thought it would set off internal fittings[:X]

I had the pleasure of seeing some of it when i picked up a Super Minx bonnet off you earlier in the year.
