Overdrive...

Since fitting the overdrive it's the only experience of them. Turning the OD off it immediately kicks down sharply but when turning it on it won't kick in unless you take your foot off the accelerator, let the revs drop sufficiently and put your foot back on, occasionally it will only half kick in this way and 'slip' where you have to follow the same procedure again.

I guess this isn't normal and probably needs the bearing valve cleaning or the pressure adjusting?

Bonnies is a little fierce when you knock it off, I just use the clutch as if changing gear normally. I also find, on both vans, the OD is a little sluggish kicking in if your flooring it.
 
ah good to know then - yer mines a little violent on the down shift, I'll try that clutch technique in future. Mine doesn't seem to kick in at all until you feather the throttle a bit.

Ahhh - I'll try that as I change up to see if makes a difference...I guess I naturally use the clutch when I let the revs drop off to let it drop in, can't remember for sure:confused:
 
Theres a little jolt on mine when I knock the overdrive off, I just make sure the revs and speed are correct.
 
Sorted thanks all, I wasn't using the clutch after all on the up or down shift, doing so helps a lot and goes in straight away now.

On to the next one - letting three littleuns play fire engines in the front seats has resulted in broken indicators - when pushed down they are off, middle flashes the right indicator and the top ,if you apply pressure is left (sometimes works) and you have to have the stalk pushed back on full beam have a chance of it working at all...strip down tonight but looks complex in there, hopefully can still get the units somewhere.

No more playing fire engines!
