Not sure where you are, or indeed if its of use but I do have a gearbox with a laycock d type o/d unit fitted. Not tested but its complete and you're welcome to consider this if it suits.:) John.

Hi all and thanks for the mail John, just seen it. Does anyone know if this would fit onto my van without messing about too much. it's got a 1725 vogue estate engine going in it (super vista).

Details are:

Laycock D type serial: 25/61958/049662 (25 spline output shaft)

gearbox marked with; U1981050  60A21055

Thanks chaps

As long as it's not out of an Arrows series car (longer bell housing) there shouldn't be a problem. You will have to get the prop shortened and sort out the wiring for the overdrive.

How refreshing

It's an arrows box you have. It will need the modification. I know this to be a fact. I sold it to John.

Ah bugger. Cracking information as always thanks for that. I'll keep on the hunt, got a bit of time to search still as I'll be fitting it over winter.

Its not the end of the world, and it will be quite hard to find a correct box that doesn't need modification. All that needs to be done is swap over the main shaft between the boxes.

Thanks, guess so. It's quite away off also so may just see if anything else turns up nearer to home. Is it a simple task to swap the main shafts?

It means pretty much stipping most of the gearbox down, you then need to swap over the first gear cog as the Arrows one will be a different size so you don't want a Commer cog in an Arrows box, I found out the hard way:I. It's time consuming and fiddly but ultimately worth it and, as Andy says, maybe a quicker option.
