Overdrive Unit

I've got OD on mine but i cam across this and wasn't sure if it would fit/suit someone who has just the standard gearbox. If not i'll apologise in advance :)

So, now you got me started LOL:D:D to any of us with a standard box this is no good Right?

as regard to razors comment...if you already got overdrive that is possibly u/s then it would be worth investing? (assuming it does actually work as stated)

Yes, no good for a standard 4 speed box.

But, my box has a cracked o/d, so will be interested in this... as long as it is a straight swap?? Think it will be but thought I would ask MM or CR just to check.

I don't think so, it needs a different output shaft on the gearbox and I doubt there was one ever made for an auto.

Hmmm, remembering back to CommerFest 2010 [8D], IIRC there was a van whose owner who had successful modified their autobox to take an overdrive unit but it did require some additional engineering but was an apparently worthwhile outcome.

Unless you're keen to stay auto, a complete manual O/D swap might be more straightforward & offer more benefit.

I was particularly interested as our Stag is auto and depite having a good chat with them about it, I've now not sure of their name (sorry !)

If yours is a 'D' type then there's no reason why it shouldn't:)

I thought there was a third type fitted to Rootes cars but D & J types are certainly the most common.

Thanks Colin, have read that before, but forgot it was there. Looks like the main difference is the spline pattern for the prop shaft. Which means this may not fit my van...? Although I only need the housing really as mine is cracked. (Still runs ok, but leaks a bit).
Will get it down, and if no good will sell it on here.

If it's from a '72 Sceptre then it should have the finer splines.
