OverDrive Switch from Speedy Spares...

Afternoon all. Got an overdrive box sorted at last and ordered a Commer o/d switch from Speedy's and recieved this...from looking at the wiring diagrams on the Forum I'm sure it should be a auto onoff switch and have three connectors on the back. Before I phone up I just wanted to confirm that its the incorrect one.

Thanks

This is not a typical rootes type overdrive switch. It looks to be an on off type - which will work, but will be more like a triumph installation. Maybe this is from a later hunter?

Thanks Throwman. It says Chysler on the box so from the same stable, was quite expensive for an on/off switch I can buy from anywhere so was really after the correct 3 pin. Also was going to follow the diagrams on here which have all three wired up. Looking on line it seems to be described as a Panel Light Switch

It is a panel light switch, hence the pic of a gauge on the front.

Send it back and get a long toggle type.

A self cancelling switch looks like the long thin one in the center of the pic

Always thought that was one of the most stupid ideas out there[xx(], after all when you want to change gears you naturally reach for............................................the dashboard [?]

The MG/Triumph idea is brilliant and soooooo much better ;)

LOL well, its called finger tip controls Tim.....quite a modern concept really if you think about 'Flappy paddle' gear changes ...or even our Prius has the gear selector on the dash! :D:D from a health & safety point of view it saves one from taking ones eyes off the road:D:D:D

If someone has to look at the gear lever when they change gear Colin, quite frankly they should not be driving [}:)]

It makes about as much sense as having the door lock on the seat [xx(]

A much better idea having the door lock....and ignition on the key fob eh!?! :D[}:)]:D

I used to have to look at the gear lever to change gear and often got a slap for squeezing her knee instead...but alas, this eye surgery is brilliant!!!:D:D

Ha ha...thought about the gearstick thing, my dad had a stag so quite fancied that until i found it was a different type of switch needed. Hopefully have it by the weekend and then it's gearbox out, pick up the new one and in in the next couple of weeks (I hope) not done a gearbox switch for a while, shouldn't be too much trouble from what I remember.

Why do you need a "different type of switch". I have a Stag gear knob and switch fitted and it works well :)

Cheers

My wiring skills aren't great so following the instructions to the letter. Also wasn't sure it would self cancel with one of these but guess that's sorted somewhere else
