OVER HEATING

I like most Commer owners have had to drive with the heater on ,on hot days like I traveled in last trip in Northern Australia .I decided to put an old engine oil cooler in parallel with the heater circuit .It is positioned behind the grill and has its own turn of tap. I am now in northern Queensland and have been running 15 degrees C . it has been a huge success. The other thing I should bring up is that before fitting the interior ,I should have sealed all around the edges in the back.I did a trip up north in fine bull dust and spent many hours cleaning pots and pans and cloths.I put it on a hoist and filled all the box sections and holes with expander foam ,which did the job ,but it would have been better to do it with the back empty.I am in Charters Towers heading for the coast ,then a slow trip back to Sydney
 
hi,thommo expander foam holds water > so keep an eye out for rust in these places
great job on the oil cooler ;)

I should have said the overheating had been ther since the car was put on the road with a new engine , core plugs out ,block cleaned . Then I had tried big core rad, ducting to force air up into the rad, a flexi drive fan p414 that nearly blew my hair off at idle. nothing worked till the extra rad . I will be interested to see if the guys in Australia fitting different engines with stock cooling systems have heating problems
