Progress sounds wonderful as always- haven't heard from other highwaymen peeps recently so no news yet of scrap bits - hope to find out this week if I can:)

hi today jobs, ordered the new flexy pipe from speedys and cut out another floor from the better quality wood, waxoiled the floors and filled them with insulation and fitted some of the new ply panels, its really coming together now, mot man sick so can't do it tuesday so will phone round to find another place, not all our garages can take it as its so tall,hoping to lay new tiles tuesday and repair some of the furniture ready for going back, still got a couple of leaks , have tried to seal but just keep coming back so maybe a section of the roof will have to be unscrewed and resealed, now thats not on, after all the hours of work spent on it, but its no good if all the new wood gets wet.i have to make some new curtains quickly for friday and maybe use the old cushions as no new stuff has arrived and times getting on. hope all your jobs went well over the weekend, just to add to our jobs we have had a major flood in our house and only found it on thursday night,a pipe has been leaking for some time behind the washing machine but has caused thousands of pounds of damage so we now have dehumidifiers everywhere and a very upside down house, what a mess, glad to get in the commer for some calm.
 
Oh no [:0] Good grief you two have patience, most others would have given up long ago. I really hope the damage estimate is lower than you first thought (or the insurance will cover it :))

Hi leak so bad the insurance will have to deal, they have been out already and put the dehumidifiers in but all the plasterboard walls are wet half way up the walls in utility, wc and hall so it will be a long time drying before they can sort out the floors. nothing you can do to change it so just have to get on with it!!! more jobs on van today takes your mind off it.

sorry to hear of kitchen woes, hope they can be sorted soon - so glad you're enjoying having OKU to keep you occupied. Good luck with resealing leaks - that canny water stuff can sure find it's way in anywhere[xx(]

yes your right the house leaks more, lots of little jobs done tonight , mot rebooked for thursday, brake pipe did not arrive today, re fitted some stuff on the engine that will make it run smoother and did something to the exhaust as it was still leaking,the new floor is great and feels excellent under foot. hardboard inserts between walls and roof re fitted hopefully will tile wednesday. earth wire reconnected and does anybody know what size wipers it should have as ours has 10 inch ones on and that only wipes less than half so we have replaced with ones from our disco for the mot but will buy right size if we know the size.due to rain wednesday so if it does will get more done as gary is home, watch this space for more problems before thursday.
 
ok where do we start, the brake pipe just arrived from speedys and we fitted it staight away, started to bleed the brakes and the fluid is still pumping out the joint at the new cylinder so it must be a faulty part, and yes youve guessed it speedys are closed on wednesdays,somebody really does not want us to get this done!!! anyway gary has managed to get one of the old cylinders from that side moving so his hoping that it might do so we can still get it tested. He is out there in the rain doing his bit to get it fixed, but I don't think his that happy!!! If we could get it inside it would not be so bad but out in the rain, oh no so we now have an expensive part that don't work a brake pipe that was not needed and a husband laying out in the rain, oh happy days.And its only just started!!!
 
IMO you should take the rubber seals out of the new cylinder and put them into the old one. With a litle cleaning up I'd be surprised if it didn't work enough to at least pass the MOT.

I can't remember if you said you'd replaced the brake shoes too. You'll probably need to spend a little while balancing the brakes before it will pass the test.

Thanks for that, already back on and bleeding the system but cant get good pressure , all the air seems to be out but keep moving round each one and just hope it will work.
 
Help help help. getting ready feed up now, can't seem to get the brakes bled , we have borrowed a pumping tool and seem to be getting lots of air out the back nearside, can't find any leaks rear brake pipes all renewed, going to have to cancel test again as we have been on it all day and no joy. any ideas please.
 
Try raising the rear of the van overnight, the air in the system should rise to the rear brakes then bleed from the nearside first, providing no air is getting back into the system any other way this should do the trick.
 
Drat! There's air getting in the system somewhere obviously, and my guess would be to check the new cylinders; if you've had problems with one leaking fluid then is it possible there's problems with the others? The system needs to be totally air tight.

I'm also assuming you know to bleed the furthest away from the master cylinder first (nearside rear), and then the others ending up at the offside front last? Indeed, have you checked to see the master cylinder is not the source of all the problem? Also check you've correctly attached the brass banjo to the master cyl, it's not reversible and also the the bleed nipples are tightened up properly before removing the bleed hose.

Sorry, I wish I could be there with you, but keep pumping that pedal!
 
Hi, thanks for any help given, we will ring speedys thursday and see what they have to say about the cylinders, we have given up on that now and layed the new floor tiles, oh they look lovely. a few more ply panels to go inside so will work on those tonight, We have re booked mot for friday so lets hope we have some let up in the ran or we will be out in our army groundsheets and they have kept us fairly dry but we have had more than a few strange looks.I said watch this space for more problems and I was not wrong was I.
 
Hi everybody, the sun is shineing quite how long for I don't know but it is , we will have another go this morning at the brakes. nothing can be as bad as yesterday in that rain. last night we re paneled some of the seating boxes, with the new hardwood ply, they smell better as they had been damp and were not very safe.They look lovely up against the new floor, but again so time consuming.I will try to post some more pics tonight.
 
Help help again we have just broken the handbrake cable the long one front to back, speedys dont have one , anybody got one please. speedys part number C172, ours is a 3/4 forward control commer. We are really desperate now, Will pay postage and a fair price if anybody can help. We could get next day special delivery and still make the test.thanks Gary & Lynne
 
Hi thanks for your reply, speedys made a mistake they have phoned back having found one, they will not be getting anymore so we have been lucky, we have left the mot booked as its not until the afternoon and we are hoping it will arrive and be fitted in time to still go, thanks again, Lynne. ps brakes are now finished so much easier in the sun!!!
 
Hi i told you nothing is easy in our world, anyway handbrake should arrive from speedys friday with luck £62, Iam not sure if postage is inc or thats extra, but that was not nice nor was getting if off as it had been put inside the brackets for the spring assisters and guess what the bolts did not want to come off, but ready now for new one when it arrives, the mot man says we can cancel last minute if we have to so we will still try, update friday, Lynne
