I think you will just pick up information as you go along,hopefully someone will be able to give you more information about your particular model & conversion,be patient :)when you are out and about you will probably get stopped by people that had one etc they will talk trust me :D[}:)]:D
I have got a nice book somewhere, will see whats in there if anything,scans & uploads will be forth coming if I can find any thing.
I always find supermarket carparks particularly your local morrisons ppeople allways come over stand and admire etc found lots of infor doing the weekly shop,also been offered spares this way.

The water tank was situated within the wardrobe/toilet, on the wall, feeding the sink next to it via a tap cut into a recess in the wall of the wardrobe!
All the various magazine road testers of the period remarked that this was a hopeless design, and Bluebird changed it soon afterwards. That early Highwayman body was also fitted to the BMC J2 chassis. The Highwayman in that basic shape was in production from 1958 through to 1975 (with several interior/exterior design changes), it was completely re-designed in 1975 when fitted to the then, new Leyalnd Sherpa.
 
Hi thanks for your help, if this is where the water tank was then we will not put it back there if it did not work, that would be pointless, Where did they relocate it to after this please. Thanks for all offers of info, found a nut for the exhaust not quite right but will do for now. We have removed all the covers from the seats and found some original material, i have found a company that makes an almost exact match, a bit expensive but the finished item should look good. Can anybody tell us what held the seat back onto the board on the first set of seats behind the cab, there must of been fixings but ours are missing, pictures would be great so we can look for a replacement, thanks again Gary & Lynne.
 
Re the Classic Camper Club, the lady called Jane is simply the new membership secretary and has no info about vans, specs, models etc she does not run the club! The club is still run by Martin and Dilys Watts who go out of there way to help, Martin especially is a walking encyclopedia on all things Classic Camper especially Commer, obviously paid up club members take prioity over people just wanting info but they ALWAYS help!
 
Hi thanks for this info, we did actually want to join, It would be good to talk to these people but it has been very hard to find out how or get anybody to respond, I did not mean to upset anybody but just sharing my experiance as to what has happened so maybe they need more or clearer details on the web for contact.
 
All sorted now, I have sent an old plan of the early Highwayman body by email.
I always try to help people with a query relating to old campers, even if they are not paid up CCC members! It's all about keeping these old vans on the road after all. Beachboy is correct saying that Jane is simply the membership sec', and does not have a great deal of knowledge about older campers, but my personal archive is vast on Commers and many more. I'll continue to offer any help on camper history if I see any threads that require it;)

Hi everybody, today we have taken off some more wall boards and guess what some more rotten wood,where the water has run down the sides. Still its only a couple of pieces nothing compared to what we have already done. We have decided to replace all the wall boards as they have been painted and its more difficult to rub down than to replace with new which will match the new roof. All new insulation should help as well. photos to follow. Gary & Lynne
 
Hi Again, been trying to get clutch off but the starter motor is sticking and causing more problems so I took it off at lunchtime to get it refurbished, did it straight away with new parts as all inside had burnt out, it was loose so I think it had been causing problems in the past. just fitted it back on so we will see if we can free clutch by running it then dipping it whilst cooling anything worth a try.
 
Can anybody tell us the original colours or paint codes from bluebird caravans from the year 1963, as although the bottom colour seems to be original colour the top part looks like it should be a slightly green colour and not cream as it is now. Sorry if we ask too many questions but you all have good knowledge and its excellent to tap into, thanks x lots Gary & Lynne.

some of the differences can be seen on the front panel,yours has a lovely grill & only 1 side light,it is an earlier model,I think the Pa's started off with a smaller engine?
search for the diffence between PA & PB you should find this already discussed.
