There we go problem solved! Earlier van with later body.

Glad this has been put to rest as I have just realised, I am quite defensive over my lovely van!!:D:D:D

Dave I like your last comment, It is your van and it is another Commer on the road and being used, you should not have to defend it , As you said it puts smiles on peoples faces. Keep on enjoying it. Good luck with the welding, cut out the rot and clean back to shiny metal is the secret.(I have spent the last four week ends under mine welding should finish this week end weather permitting )

Sorry if I have offended you with my comments but I speak from experience with this sort of thing and would not want to see it happen to anyone else. A friend bought a CF that was tax exempt only it turned out it was`nt and he is still counting the cost including having the van seized! Unfortunatly beliving something to be right does not make it right in law. If there was an enquiry into your vans id and it could not be proven or shown that its tax exempt but there was still doubt DVLA could issue a Q plate registration number and it would lose its tax exempt status but you would at least still own your fine van. Is your chassis number stamped into the metal edge behind the engine cover or just a riveted alloy plate?
 
Could someone tell me where exactly where this chassis number is stamped apart from the alloy plate as I'm sure that I've seen it but can't find it now!

Perhaps even pop a photo on to show me what this looks like?

I know it's around as I have definitely seen it - but half an hour of searching and nothing [xx(]

I think it is on the edge of the engine bay just behind the hatch, between the clips that hold the engine cover down.

Or under drivers seat,might be worth looking in side the door frame too unlikely though!no.1's is in a brown envelope along with the 1 panky mentions at the back of engine lid,I will have to look at the other vans to remember :I
I took the riley for mot,had to leave with out one as I didn't have the old mot or log book & they couldn't find the chassis no.
It was on the door pilar [V]
so I went back the next day friday,failed,Sat Tim fixed her up,mon replaced a bulb went back got the mot :D[}:)]:D
