HI speaking to a good friend who is restoring a commer jennings and is after some original paint colour samples dose any body no where i can get hold any so he can get the paint mixed thanks paul

It's just that Jennings converted Commers,Fords, BMC's and no doubt other base vehicles and didn't stick to manufactures codes for individual makes and painted them all in the same colours - although Rootes colours may have been used in some instancesb they may well have gone to the B&Q paint isle
I found out at Tatton Park that early conversions were hand painted, I know because one of the coach painters who worked there in the 60's was there and he came over for a chat. Earlier another guy was telling us he worked at Jennings as well - he was a blacksmith and most probably made Bonnie's rear bumpers

That's very interesting John, that must of made your day chatting to someone like that and equally it probably made his day to see your van[8D]
I have said before that just behind the old Bluebird factory there is a caravan/camping business and the old guy that owns it used to build the conversions and up until a year or 2 ago still had some of the original moulds for fibreglassing certain panels in his warehouse...kinda emotional talking to him[8D]

The blacksmith guy said he had boxes full of old Jennings brochures in his loft for years - until he chucked them all out a couple of months ago[V]
He added that his bedroom furniture was made from the same Sapele Mahogany veneered wood as Bonnies interior - I wonder where that came from

You know, it kinda worries/bothers me that at some point the people that made these 'stories/history' will fade away and the older amongst us will in turn fade away, and then what? .sadly amongst the young, there are so few that display any interest mostly due to this @$&^**?@ up X-box generation we live in today....
