On The Buses Perth to York.

[Aussie Commer]

Perth to York in West Australia that is.
We took the Commer on a Car Club Rally on the weekend from Perth city to York in WA.
The Rally is a great fun event that snakes its way 140miles to York. Unfortunately the start line in Perth is 265miles from our house so around 700 miles was clocked up in total over the last two days.

We have now re-converted our van back into a 12 seat bus and we WON! 1st place in the fancy dress competition for the rally, going as the "On The Buses Crew" with myself as driver, Amanda as a clippy and Amelia as the Inspector. We made our costumes and had a fantastic time.

The Commer ran like a clock again not missing a beat throughout the weekends hard drive.

It was hard enough keeping her in her costume, let alone the Hitler mo, but she did like shouting "Get that Bus out!".

Hi Paul,

Just been checking out your postings from your York trip. Looks like you had a great time.

I have been meaning to contact you earlier. We know your sister through the bank at Margaret River which is where we live. We happened to mention to her that we have a Commer and she said that you had one and had done it up. (great job by the way)

I followed your trip around Australia on Facebook, it looked as though you had a great time.

I have a 1967 Commer bus just like yours. I rego'd it a couple of years ago and am about to get it spray painted. I will post some pictures when I get it done.
I hope to be able to do a couple of road trips in it in the not to distant future.

Great to hear from you and to hear of another Commer on the road in WA. I was starting to think i would have to face all the dark siders here alone(although in Margs you are well and truly out numbered)[B)]. I am sure there must be more of us lingering around in WA.. Glad your on the forum its a great place to source all the info you need. Look forward to seeing pics of your bus and to hear how your road trips go.

Whilst we were on this trip we met an american driving one of the roller's. He used to drive double deckers in London in the 60/70's. He came to the UK just for a working holiday and loved being on the buses so much that he stayed for 5 years.

He said that not surprisingly life on the buses for him was just like the TV show "best time of my life, plenty of skirt" he said.

I can image that, if it was like the TV show i am surprised most of the drivers haven't recently been bought up on assault charges.
