oil and water check

Thats why i said those were the days.[^] Well im still here to tell the tale. :pThe other thing was he (I called him Sooty) was wired positive earth and we had to isolate the cassete/radio player from the dash cos it would blow up if we didnt.:D:D:D Used to have to jump up and down when going up hills cos the oil pressure would drop and Sooty would slow down to about 15mph. Same thing happened when you sounded the horn - took so much energy from the battery that he slowed down then as well ha ha ha:D:D:D

On my first ever job the foreman sent me to the local garage to buy a 'bubble' for his spirit level.I cycled miles for it only to face the humiliation after the garage owner couldnt contain his laughter anymore!!...

Sorry Debs!, i couldnt help myself with the dry water [}:)]

Yes yes ok ok. :D:D but on a serious note - my dad always used distilled water in his A35. Swore blind that it didnt fur anything up. He had that car for years and years. I just thought that tap water was not quite the thing to use in older cars. But im probably just having a blonde moment.[:X]:D:D:D:D Im not going to take anything you lot say seriously any more[xx(][xx(]

You mean you took things seriously up to this point - ;)[)]

Distilled water recommended for topping up car batteries to avoid furring - and if you need any bubbles for it - ask Paul:D

My dad got sent out for a few silly things when he was training as a nurse - he always made sure he scoured the toy shops and came back with something that fitted the bill:)

Not really :D:D:D:D when i said i would get onto it i meant i would fill my jug up with water from the tap and mix with anti freeze and pour it in until i see it appear - just like my dad told me when I had my mini. :D:D:p

Favorite ones in the building trade are to send the apprentice out for half a dozen sky hooks and left handed screwdrivers. Usually get the response, 'new are you?' :D

no debs, he was right, in a perfect world you should use distilled water in the rad :),by the way does anyone have a metric adjustable i can borrow as mine is imperial [?]

The Commer-Mini link springs up again, are we fatally attracted to terminal rust buckets or is it just cos they are both quirky British fun machines :D:D.
I got all excited the other day when my daughter asked me to drop her off at a school where she was teaching. It was opposite the best scrappies I had ever been in, my last visit there was to strip the back springs off a well rusted van for my old white camper. Doesn't time fly it must have been nearly twenty years ago and the van and the scrappies have now been replaced by a housing estate [V]. I'll have to go and check if there is any reference to the previous use of the land reflected in road names, maybe Riley Road or Wolsley Walk maybe even Commer Close [8D]

its because they are quirky british terminal rust buckets is,nt it [?]

No I'm afraid you are going to have to manage without my BBQing skills [V]. You will be in safe hands with charliecommer, he can burn the burgers as well as me ;)
