Hi All,
Looking for some things to check, for the past year I've had Dad's commer running lovely, pickering at Easter, Wales early summer, he's had many short local weekends, but recently having issues on short runs when I think its hot.
1725 petrol running a SU carb, new radiator and electric fan.
So the scenario is. Jump in starts on first crank, drive 2 miles stop for 15mins, jump starts first crank, drive 5 miles stop for 30mins, jump in starts first crank, drive 1 mile stop for 10mins, jump in starts first crank 100 yards down the road cuts out, no spluttering just dies and won't start. Leave it a good 20mins starts first crank??
When we first had the van I changed rotor arm and dizzy cap, new coil and changed the plugs.
I dont believe it's fuel evaporation as previous owner has shield the card and wrapped the manifold and rerouted the fuel line.
SU carb does have oil, so other than dizzy cap getting too hot I'm not sure where else to start looking? Any help would be hugely appreciated.
Just to add this appears to be only on short runs its happened twice on my sons graduation and once last week (the scenario above)
Cheers
Andy
