od box and prop

Hi :)
Thinking about a project for the winter and will be taking the engine out of Betty(my commer) and clean/paint and make oil tight as well as re do valves etc. thought whilst i have it out how much a o/d box and prop would cost whilst im on with it ? anyone out there got one or know where to get one and how much ..anyone done it recently and how did it go ?

Prices can vary - there have been a few very expensive ones on ebay, but that isn't the only source. Macker1 was lucky enough to get hold of one that had already been on a Commer so was fairly straight forward. Bigmonkeyman has written an excellent blog and has details of his superb efforts on there, just find one of his posts and click on the link on his signature. I've had a go and you are very welcome to learn from my experiences and mistakes - I'm afraid it goes on a bit :I
The final conclusion (if you manage to get to the end:I) is that with a Commer bell housing fitted then the Rapier (or Hunter GT in my case) prop fits straight on.

re: the prop shaft - any decent engineering firm should be able to shorten it for you. All the electrical magic is available from Speedies - I had problems with their realy though so you may need to find an original spec one.

I drew up a little document on all the stuff I learnt while doing mine which you can have if you like (let me have your email address) its not finished yet as I got distracted by other things!
