Notts/Lincs Commers

Hi Matt, I'm Helena and Maisy is my little yellow van, your post really made me laugh because I've been asking everyone I can think of how to work my fridge!!! All I know is that it only works if you are parked really flat, if the gas has been on for at least 15 minutes...they're the hints I've been given but I still can't get it to work!!! Also apparently the ignition pipe can get blocked easily so I was advised to take it to a caravan service place who will fix it. It's a tricky one!!! Good luck with your van, she's a beauty!!

Hi Helena, I had the same problem with my fridge. I ended up taking it out to investigate and it was the little pilot light jet blocked, once I poked it though with a fine piece of wire it worked a treat [^] Sound advice to take it for a service - If you haven't already got one fitted get them to install a flue kit while you are at it. It means drilling a hole in the side of the van but then all them gas fumes and condensation are vented outside:)

Thanks Panky, I've got a few treats lined up for her, (waxing underneath, new floor, full service), over the coming months so she's going to get the full pampering works, will try to sort the fridge out at the same time...having said that just been away in her this weekend and managed fine without because I just left the milk outside overnight and it stayed nice and cold!!! Gotto love the British weather!!! She held up very well though and got loads of people coming over to have a look, even some VW owners! One girl said "Ah yes but with VW's, other VW drivers wave at you when they pass you on the road", I replied "yes, and everyone waves at a Commer!!" :)

Debbie, these pics are brilliant!! Did you pick up anything good at the auto jumble? We had such a fab time at Wicksteed we ended up staying today, slept in her for the first time for 2 nights and it was so cosy!!! I am a bit more in love with her than I was before...!!

Helena x

Thanks for the advice Helena and Panky. The fumes had bothered me a bit, but i'm not sure i could bear to have a hole drilled in her! Still, if i keep cleaning her at the rate i am now, it won't be long before i've worn a hole in the side.
Matt

Hi Helena, I picked a brand new old stock passenger outer door lock (I don't need one .... but you never know)we didn't make it in Brian as he's poorly, I think the starter motor has given up the ghost, so we took it off on Saturday and I'll have to get a replacement. Brian bless him decided to break down on Friday evening, but he struggled home and the starter died on our drive which I was grateful for. I still sat in him on Sunday evening, drinking coffee with the little gas fire lit, oooh heaven:D:D

Been looking into this meet and its only round the corner from me. Didn't even know it happened!! Won't be in a Rootes as I'm still looking for a Commer. Look out for a Mk2 Astra though and that'll be me!

Ignore that last post. Due to unforseen circumstances I'll not be working away now and will hopefully be able to get there.

Hi Graham, sorry that you have had the unfortunate change of plans, I'll be there this Thursday with Brian the Snail, hope to meet you.
