Its a faulty high pressure diesel pump as its a common rail diesel system on the traffic and they are ecu controled there about a grand+ for a new one and has to be re programed to the vehicle. Another common problem aswell as gearboxes and turbos on the 1900dci.

Well the last garage (one i trust) said its probably the pump and quoted me £290 + vat and fitting. i booked it in for last Saturday but did over 1000mls problem free so left it for now...yep, had the 6 speed rebuilt about 5000mls ago

£290 is for the low pressure one in the tank if its got one. The way of telling is if its got a hand primer under the bonnet it hasnt got a low pressure pump.If it hasnt got a hand primer its got a low pressure one in the tank. Is it the 1.9Dci?

About 8 yrs ago my local Renault dealer charged £95/hr labour. When I asked for a quote to fit a towbar and single electrics to our old Scenic. They wanted the car for 2 days and £395 + vat. I asked what brand of towbar it would be, they said a Witter. I then called a company 20 mins away who do seatbelts and towbars. Total cost? £199.00 inc of VAT and they'd need the car for 4 hrs max. The make? A Witter. Got talking to them about the Renault dealer, guess who the Renault dealer uses for towbar work? Yep! And they get it done for less than I paid as well.
Same dealer. My ex-father-in-law's nearly new Clio shredded its water pump. Total cost inc parts and labour? A few quid short of £300 + vat - luckily for him it was covered under the warranty. About the same time the w/pump on my Frogeye needing changing. Got the pump over the counter for £30. Fitted it myself in 30 mins. Need I say any more?

Old cars are good to work on,plenty of room around the engine in my old mgb to get stuff off and on[^],to much computerised stuff on new cars,and the engine compartments are to packed[V].
Rip off garages. We have a garage in the village called Fourmark..Bloody apt name cos whenever you take your vehicle in there it always seems to be around the Fourmark HAHAHAHA! Needless to say that they get your custom once!
