Not a Commer but still a classic

As the panels are ready and the welder is primed (I suppose you prime a Painter maybe you tack a welder ?)the vehicle fleet needs to be reduced to pay the bill so the Renault has to go.
It would be nice to see it going to a family and I'm happy to take it off Ebay early for the princely sum of £400.
It goes, it stops and it does'nt drip rust; however as it also does'nt sleep four it has to go.

Kind of ironic really. That's what my father bought (in saloon form) to replace our Commer in 1971. :( He had a new job and had to drive about 50 miles a day, so needed something more economical. We did subsequently hire a Commer Highwayman for holidays. :)

Actually, it has just struck me that there is a brand new forum just started on the Renault Classic Car Club site, where you can advertise the car for free.

(you can also see my cars on there) ;)

Thanks I'll put it on.

There are only a couple of estate versions left in the UK - mostly due to rusting away so for anyone with a Renault fixation it's a real find.

It's on there now - A nice Renault 16 is up for sale as well. I borrowed on years ago and it was a nice car with column change and a comfortable ride - NO! must stay focussed on Commer ( which refused to start again today [V][V])

that must be so rare [:0]- very tempting but need to focus on my commer too[8)]

good luck with starting yours - hope easily sorted

Bessie - four star commerdation

Just looked at your ad. Have you checked for rear seatbelt mounting points? My R17's which are of 1972 and 1973 vintage share the floorpan of the 12 and have rear mounting points factory fitted.

I've had the seat up and did'nt see any point on the floor or sill arear where you would expect them.
I did find two threaded holes on the rear tailgate piller which are the same thread as a seatbelt screw, however these look too far back as the shoulder strap will have to come right over the rear boot space.
It would only take a hr or so to drill the holes but with the camper I did'nt have time to do it.

i had one of the Dacia Denem , renault 12 lookalikes a couple of years ago 1983 Y reg bought it with the intention of restoring it, but gave up on it.

there used to be a Renault 12 estate in Ripon north yorks a few years back maroon coloured SWU 652M.
