Not practical, Panky, unfortunately. South Wales to Yorkshire for a day in a Commer? I'd love to go, but that's a motorway too far, I'm afraid.

If you are still having this non-start problem check the small slip-on, low tension connector on the side of the dizzy. Just had weeks of the same problem, changed everything until a brilliant RAC mechanic spotted this fault-now runs fantastic!Currently one on ebay, item number 370069901980.
He also found that the diaphram inside the fuel pump had seen better days;) Worth checking?

Thanks for that, cc, and everyone else who tried to help. The problem seems to have sorted itself(or I've inadvertently done something), but it starts and runs beautifully now. I've even painted the cab! Unfortunately I let myself be talked into using Smooth Hammerite, which has reinforced my opinion of Hammerite again. It's CR*P!!No gloss, and very poor cover of the repaired bits, so it will have to be done again, but not yet. It can run as is for now.I think I might tax it tomorrow, so it can be used, and perhaps Herself will then get on with the interior, instead of messing about with housework and washing and suchlike things!
