No gear selection

On Friday as it was warm and sunny I thought I' take Nelly for a drive.Although she hasn't been on the road for acouple of months I've run the engine up weekly. Went to drive off but couldn't put her in gear. With the engine turned off I can select the gears.
Any idea what the problem can be ?

Clutch plate is stuck to the flywheel probably, try leaving her ticking over for half an hour with a piece of timber holding the clutch pedal down and see if it frees it off. If that doesn't work put her in gear and start her up (obviously you will need plenty of room as she will bounce off down the road) hold the clutch pedal down then alternatively push on the brake and accelerator, don't be shy on the brakes - that should shift it. Be ready to switch off though just in case it doesn't work.
But do check the slave cylinder is actually working first:)

Hi Panky
Tried to free clutch by running the engine but no
luck.Bit dodgy to put it in gear and start her up as she is on
my run-up and strait into the road with a sharp turn.
The slave cylinder is working o.k.
Any other ideas please.

Wedge the clutch pedal down with a piece of timber and warm the engine through, then leave it wedged down over night and warm the engine through again and see if it's freed itself. If that doesn't work leave it over night again etc etc. Failing that, and if you cant do the start in gear thing, then it's out with the gear box I'm afraid:I
Is there any chance you can roll it onto the road to try starting in gear?

Hi Panky
Thanks for advice re. jamming clutch down with wood.
Tried on and off all week, just went out again for another try
and O.K.
Get sorted for M.O.T. soon.
