Nice little V8

Had the pleasure of a close encounter with this little beastie the other weekend. It was the Team Malaysia A1GP car. The engine was so tight, it had to be heated for a couple of hours before it could be fired. A couple of minutes after I took this shot the Ferrari technicians arrived to fire it up - the noise was awesome. It may require a little surgery to fit in a Commer, but it suits a mid engine layout!

We later chatted up the man from Michelin and left with a couple of souvenirs!

Imagine the looks off the Kwik-fit-fitter if you asked him to put those on your Commer rims[8D]

you would have stayed longer but you were two tyred.........[V]:I:D

where's the overdrive switch? [}:)]

Bessie - four star commerdation

the airbox is interesting, you can see how its designed to ram air in and then slow it down so it goes into a large plenum chamber and becomes still(hopefully). although to get any positive boost pressure you need to be doing over 150mph, i think 175mph is needed to get 1/2-1 psi positive pressure, so its probably not worth considering for most commers :I. a bit like the NACA ducts you see on car bonnets, originally developed on 300+mph aircraft they rely on the sharp edges to create vorticies and accelerate the air in, most of the ones you see on cars are badly shaped and do nothing. great for cooling your 400mph 54L thunderbolt but on a fiesta xr3.............[xx(]

Another interesting technical feature of the airbox is that it has a toy orang-utan stuffed in the intake. [:0]

As for two tyred, what you can't see is that my 49 year old friend behind my son is also carrying one! Wish I'd got one for myself now! [^;)

aahhh, the old orang-utan in the airbox mouth trick, neat :D

WOW!

Now that would look great in a commer, although it would sit about as high as a passenger on the central seat - might increase the cabin noise a fraction.....
