I received this from a trusted source this evening.



Subject: READ IMMEDIATELY.....VERY IMPORTANT

Anyone-using Internet mail such as Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL and so on. This information arrived this morning, Direct from both Microsoft and Norton Please send it to everybody you know who has Access to the Internet. You may receive an apparently harmless e-mail titled "Here you have it" If you open the file, a message will appear on your screen saying: 'It is too late now, your life is no longer beautiful....'

Subsequently you will LOSE EVERYTHING IN YOUR PC, And the person who sent it to you will gain access to your Name, e-mail and password. This is a new virus which started to circulate on Saturday afternoon. AOL has already confirmed the severity, and the anti virus software's are not capable of destroying it.

The virus has been created by a hacker who calls himself 'life owner'.

PLEASE SEND A COPY OF THIS E-MAIL TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS, And ask them to PASS IT ON IMMEDIATELY!

THIS HAS BEEN CONFIRMED BY SNOPES.

It's been around for years. In fact, most of these chain type warnings are hoaxes.

The forwarded email that you quoted is an old hoax and has been around for donkey's years - and i recognised it from my days of running my company's network. As I said before, most, if not all, of these warnings that tell you to forward to everyone you know are hoaxes. However, if you get an email with an attachement on it that you are not expecting - don't open it - simple, especially if you don't know the sender.

This new virus that is talked about on the like you have doesn't do the same thing as the warning says, but is a trojan. Trojans won't delete all your files as described - but will sit on your computer and act as a back door for something.

Best advice is to get a reputable anti virus/malware, make sure it is up to date at all times and DO NOT OPEN UNEXPECTED ATTACHMENTS, OR CLICK ON LINKS THAT YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE.

Thanks Andy that calms my fears a little. I always delete emails I don't recognise anyway and it just makes me mad that some lowlife would stoop to something like this[:(!] - I did send my bank account details to that nice Nigerian princess though, she seemed very upset:)
