Hello from Canada. Bought this highwayman a year ago. Have gutted the back and rebuilt except for the cabinets over the windows, will do this winter. Still have the cab and exterior to finish which will take some time. Does anybody know if another one is in Canada and on the road?
Hi Frank and welcome to the madhouse[8D] ...nice looking van you have there[8D]
Once you have stored your pics in photobucket, just hovver the mouse over the pic you want to post and then click on the 4th little drop down which will copy the photo then just paste it into your post
What model year is it, do you know? I don't think I've seen that rear end design before. You seem to have the earlier rear end design, but the sections are different. The fibreglass mouldings where the rear lights are fitted are smaller on the design I'm familiar with, but on yours they stretch all the way to the rear door - and also have a profile on the panel running across the back just under the rear lamps, which the others don't have. Also, the rear roof section is longer, so that the section stretches far more towards the middle of the vehicle. And it's also a lot different to the later rear design, although your side windows seem much more in line with the later design. Interesting !
Thanks for your comments. Sam is a 69 left hand drive. Maybe that the differences are for an export model do not know as not many in Canada to compare to and do not have any more info on them other than from this wed site. I have been following the Iceman restro for about a year and man what a job. I have only replaced the rotten bits ect in the framing not the whole thing.
Jason where do you reside I am in Cobourg ON. Well going to get the cab floor back together as I have sanded and repainted it to stop the rust and get Sam put away for the winter.
Hey CDN Highwayman, im from Toronto, Ontario (downtown) and am currently starting to restore mine as well. Yours is lookin good I must say. I thought I was the only one in Ontario with a commer but I guess I was wrong. haha
Good to hear of yours. Is it a Highwayman or van? I know of a few vans being restored but of no other Highwayman. One is in Picton and have heard of one next door in Port Hope but have not made contact with that one yet. How about a photo.
If you search through the members and search my name, it will show my past threads and there are some photos in there. Mine is not a camper but rather a cargovan. I am building a rat styles van out of it.
