Hello all,

Just a quick intro from a new member.
I recently bought a Commer FC. Its officially a Moto Plus from 1961, so quite an early van. Some may have seen it on the usual internet auction site a couple of months ago. I'll post some pictures soon, at the moment the van is in the garage being 'made ready', as I always do when something new (or very old in this case) comes along.

The van is in very nice condition generally but the driving experience is a revelation compared to my last daily driver, a 3.0 litre V6 Scimitar. Somewhat wheezy, but I will get used to it! Or find more cc's. We shall see.

I have several questions to pose in due course, no doubt. Also hope to help out where I can.

Best wishes, Mick

Hi Mick and welcome to the Madhouse:D
If it's the same grey Moto Plus I'm thinking of (is there another?) it's a belter, I've been underneath and it's the best original Commer underbody I've ever seen. Although a long way off Scimitar performance it does have the Maltas SU manifold conversion so is a vast improvement on what it was originally - and a six speed box if IRC:cool:

Hi mick. I don't think it matters what car your used to as every thing feels like a Ferrari in comparison. It's a whole different mind set :). Look forward to the photos

Thanks all for the warm welcome.

Yes Panky, it is the Moto Plus with the SU and the 6 speed. Very tidy as you say. .
The engine was running very lean so I richened it slightly. Seems much better now. Also the gear box was hard to find reverse. A slight adjustment on the reaction linkage seems to have solved that one too.
The interior is getting a bit tired so I might refresh that before next Spring.

Just fitting an electric fan and a gauge. It had NO means of temperature warnings before!!

Cheers, Mick

A couple of pictures of the van as promised. Apologies for the delay, I have been sorting a couple of things, such as new mirrors, an electric fan and some seat belts. I will write these up separately in the technical section.
Cheers, Mick
