Hello Commer fans! I'm so happy to have found you. My family owned a Commer when I was a child and it is an ambition of mine to own one as an adult. I currently have a T4 which I love, but one day...

I sporadically search on-line for Commers and drool and dream and try to see with a magnifying glass on old photos what the reg was of our old 'beast', but can't quite make it out.

I have joined your forum to keep an eye on the Commer world and attend any rallies to meet some of you. I live in Gloucestershire and wondered if there was anybody nearby who might want a new - Commer-less - friend?

Thanks very much. I look forward to hearing from some of you!

Hi Beth and welcome to the Madhouse:D We wont hold owning a T4 against you because you've seen the light;)
I know of one particularly colourful lady in Gloucestershire but I'll let her introduce herself when she's ready

Hi Beth and welcome. Looking on e bay there are a couple going so it might be worth a look. search commer van in campers, caravans and motorhomes

I know Jimmy!! I've seen them and keep wondering is now the time? but not sure... if I got one now it would have to be my everyday vehicle and I'm not sure I want to do that to an old van. Does anyone else run theirs all the time that you know of? Maybe in a couple of years I'll be in a position to have one as a bonus vehicle and might even have a garage to put it in!! Oh the dreams!! Thanks for the nod to the listings though... it's got me pondering...

I run my 67 commer and a 74 mgb all year round with no garage. I go on the philosophy that they would have been used full on back in the day. As long as you're prepared keep on top of them I don't think it should be to concerning. The only thing with waiting that I worry about is how few there are out there.

Working on it as we speak Beth, what you save in free tax put on maintaining, what you save in insurance put on parts, but a lot of policys for classics are limited mileage.I presume you are over25,as they don't seem to like young people having insurance on a classic.Good luck.

welcome and good luck in your search. Personally unless you're prepared to work, polish regularly, protect, fix rust yourself best having a garage and another car with a commer but that's my opinion. I love mine and will have it for life, making memories with my own young family...most of them fixing it at the side of the road they're the memories I have of my dad and old cars and the one's I want to create :)

While admin owns a California there will always be room for darksiders who see the light :)
