New Member - Advice Needed

this is one of the hammocks after I pushed up the pop top, something which the owner had never done as he was too afraid?

What's it like underneath? I suspect there's a few areas of concern:I

So my original plan was to hire a trailer and tow this bad boy back to my lock up in SE London. Once back I was going to sand down the rusty bits pictured above and slap some filler on it and then match it in with some primer and then stick it through an MOT get it back on the road and then get it to a body shop get the crap cut off and get some spanking new panels welded in there place then stick it back in the lock up and leave there until I have enough dough to get it sprayed a nice shade of blue with the top and the roof white... and a bit of 70s bling on the front.

however my brother and my mate who are both mechanics told me to put it through an mot in Birmingham and then drive it back thus not needing to spend money hiring a trailer... my mate said as long as there is not rust within 30cm of any important point like seatbelt points, jacking points, engine and suspension mounts then it should go through an MOT even with the rust shown in the pictures above? Does anyone on here think the van could pass an MOT if left in the condition above?

Interior is nice :p someone has spent a few quid on that.

your body work looks familiar , take it you never took a magnet same as me:I

the side seams have all been filled like mine trapping all the rust in which just ate my van .The inner cills rusted too which will cost a few quid , bargain hard with that in your favour , but still looks a good project. Has been up for sale a few times recently [?]

A bit of duck tape over any sharp edges and give it a go, but you're stuffed if it fails:I

yeah if it fails Im stuck in Birmingham 125 miles from home in a rusty camper van which is the same age as me!

It's a gamble - but you could book it in for an MOT closer to home;)
