New Commer Owner!!

Hi Guys n Girls.

My name is Ian and i own www.vwkampers.com a big classic VW Company!

I love old classics and have just taken delivery on my first Commer, its a 1973 Autosleeper, 38k on the clock, full history and only 3 owners from new. It is rock solid and the interior is MINT and the overdrive works. It has been hand painted so ive taken it down to my paint shop and will be shinny and new in 2 weeks, i will post pictures! I need to get brake shoes, lines, cylinders and engine service kit, does anyone know where i can get these items?

Also!

What are they worth?

I have no idea if i have paid over the odd's or not!

Ian :)

:D:DHello and welcome, was this the one advertised in classic car weekly for the last few weeks?

We need pics now :Dplease

Prices vary on all the vans - post some pics and we'll all have a look I'm sure we can advise, but you never pay too much for a Commer, you will be hooked for sure.

For parts speak to Martin Maltas - he'll be along shortly

Moley and Brian the Snail :)

Hi Ian and welcome to the Madhouse:D Sounds like you're big into VW's (Darkside ;)) but you have finally seen the light:)
Our own Martin Maltas can supply the oily bits

http://www.commervanspares.co.uk/

The alternative is Speedyspares of Brighton but give Martin a ring first. Another forum member, Commerjules runs RatSport and he has all sorts of bling[8D]

If you find that you need any panels then good old Woolfy is your man.

What's it worth - a lot less than one of your Dubs. I'll give you £50 and risk getting stung:p
Please post some pics and we can share in your new venture.

Welcome to the Madhouse Ian! A couple of things:

For parts and panels see the answers above (Panky's probably drunk as he can't spell Maltas!)
Get it sprayed and on the road in time for the Commerfest in July.
Keep going with the darksiders, they will easily finance your new obsession.
Finally - start a readers rides thread with pics immediately! It's the LAW!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA!!!

Hi Ian, I'm carp with names, but you must of be one of the fellas I met the other week when myself and the missus had a little weekender at Henfield. Were you the one giving me all the 'commer explanation mark' jip at my frisbee throwing?! Good to hear you guys have picked up the (Commer) bug; wouldn't mind popping along sometime in the single cab to see what you've bought, sounds like a beauty :p

Hi Ian and welcome!

You'll have great fun with a commer, will be interesting to see how many shiny bits can be transplanted from the vw scene. Pricewise, they're on the up, but no where near Type 2 prices, one thing you'll notice with a Commer, is you get a really useful extra bit of width, You'll be amazed how much difference that makes!
