New bloke

Hi there everyone, stumbled on this place a few days ago whilst searching for an air filter for my '72 Highwayman, had a good read up and like what I see!

I've had my van since 1997, it's taken me and the missus to all four corners of the mainland without a single hiccup, but then along came the patter of tiny feet and our roving days were over, until now!

I have'nt had the van on the road for three years but started her up every once in a while, and attended to all those little problems that crop up, but now the mig welder and spraygun will be deployed in the next few weeks to get the van back on the road, so all four of us can get mobile again, I will ask a few questions if thats ok, and I might possibly be able to answer a few as well.

well hello there new bloke , its great to have another new member on here whos willing to talk to us ,i hope you get the answers to all of your questions ,most people usually do as there are a lot of interesting people on here, you wont want to leave now youve been bitten. firstly let me introduce myself, im woolfy the panel maker from coventry commer panels and we make any of the panels you may require to restore your old van. there are a few other great guys on here who specialize and sell items for the commer vans as well should you need anything. just fire away with the questions and we will try to keep on answering them for you. like i said this is a really great and friendly place to be. hope to see you soon at one of the meets we have later on in the year.;):p

Thanks for the welcome Woolfy, mmm... panel maker, now that sounds very useful! I used to be a member of the classic camper club a few years ago, great bunch of people, we did a few rallies, but every time we befriended someone they seemed to die shortly afterwards[:0]( the police cleared me!)

I have done a few modifications to the van over the years, mainly to fix some of the design flaws or improve the function of certain items. I will post some stuff later on today to see what others think.

Welcome to the forum Tigger, you will find plenty of friendly help and advice from a range of experts and fast becomming experts covering all aspects of ownership. You will find that this forum caters not only for Commer owners, but those sad individuals like myself who no longer have a Commer, but retain very fond memories. :)

Chances are that before the end of the day you will receive a request of a photographic nature from Commerchris! :D

I'm sure I've seen your name somewhere before - are you the only one? ;)

Regards
Chris.

I will dig out the camara and take some photos, and then try to work out how to upload them! (I'm getting on a bit!)
