That is such a shame, a rare beastie that should be saved if at all possible:I

I do like the earlier highwayman body. I would think the front is past anything economical repair wise but the coach built body looks good? Why not match up the body and mechanicles with a better chassis cab? Could never understand why folk let low milage vehicles get to this level of rotteness:(

Well...alright then, maybe just a little...

I asked about this can as it's quite close to me it seems as if it's only good for spares.... Shame as I've never seen a cheapy near me! :-(

Hi Ed and welcome to the Madhouse:D
Go take a look for yourself, one mans scrap is another mans gold[8D]

hi and thanks for the welcome, been a looking in on the forum for for a year or so about time i 'spoke'!
my granddad had a commer for a few years [and about 5 other lesser campers ;-) ] so ive always wanted one... might have to wait till i loose my herald fascination though!!
the van is discribed as absolutely rotten!!

I love Heralds as well, my old one just sold on ebay - I was a little tempted:I Heralds can rot as spectacularly as a Commer, as you must know, so it might still be worth a look to make your own mind up. Remeber most of the Commer repair panels are being produced by a couple of people on here:)
The screen pillars on the van do look a little worrying though[xx(]

Panky I've had my herald convertible for 19 years! If I ever sell it would be for either a Commer or a citroen DS
But even the other half wouldn't say no to a classic camper..... It would need to be a good un though, a big resto would be a no no!!!

Just saw this today on my way to Bridlington. It was parked outside a scrapyard so i pulled in to have a look as im after a couple of bits. They said it had just sold on Ebay but the bloke who brought it in lived quite near and had more spares. I called to see him and he told me he had bought the van when it was 17 years old but it had been laid up for the past 13 years. The van would be a very brave restoration but well worth what it has fetched just for the engine and box.

Hello Panky. Eddie is doing great thanks, started walking now so getting plenty of exercise. Im sad to say Yori has been put in the back of the garage and not had any attention. Wish in a way i had used as it was for a while to enjoy the Commer life, now i have stripped her i really must get motivated.

Hello John
Yes i need to, Commerfest got me all exited then i seem to have lost interest. I have bought myself a 1970s Rapido folding caravan which i think will be at home on a commer meet.I will post some pics when i remember how to do it.:)
