Had a great day with the gang, me and Bernie arrived early with no problems on the way down. The vans looked great but the star of the stand had to be the butchers van, a virtually constant stream of folk gawping and peering, some in amazement - a lot in disbelief. There must have been half a dozen people who knew the van from when it was in active service and were delighted to see it still on it's wheels[8D] The main question that was asked was 'Is it going to be restored' I told them Martin was committed to bring it back to the NEC in two years in pristine condition - the general consensus was to leave it as it is, a thing of mouldering beauty;)
The highlight of the day for me was when a huge monster spider appeared from underneath the butchers van, scuttled across the red carpeted walkway and disappear under several tens of thousands of pounds worth of De Tomaso - fickle spider[8D]
By the way, the De Tomaso had a Humber Sceptre grille:D

Had a great time putting faces to names and the stand looked great, heard plenty of people commenting on how good the vans looked. Went had a look round the VW stand, not a patch on these. Sorry couldn't stick around longer but by the time I'd got round the other halls it was getting proper late, didn't realise just how big this show was! I understand weekend passes now.
Hoping I'll be able to get the van to next years, if its wanted that is.

Hasta la supervista baby

When your at the nec mate there are that many people its a case of click the camera and hope for the best. Usually someone strolls across the lense. Took a few at the end of Friday but the stand is that long you need a super wide angle lens. You will have to make the effort next year and come show me how it's done. ;)

Been a brilliant show, probably the best so far. Thanks to all who stayed behind to help load the Butchers van and a special thanks to Jon for organizing it again.
Can't believe how much interest there was in the butchers van, loads of people remembered it from when it was working. The best bit though, was when the daughter of the last owner came specially to the show to see it, after a phone call from a friend, telling her it was there. Her father is now 94, but looking forward to seeing the van again!
Also, we got news of another Hadrian, this one is in Exeter in a barn. The chap that told us about it, is in the process of buying it and will forward pics:p

94, what a great story[^]
You're right about the interest in the B.V. - me and Bernie where on almost permanent duty showing off the pristine saws and butchers block, and trying to sell out dated sausages and chops;) we had about half a dozen people who remembered it on Friday:)

I had a great day, caught up with some old faces, and met some new ones. The amount of interest in the Commers was very high, especially the Butchers Van!

here's a video of closing time - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAtaX8Vr6dw&feature=plcp

Shortly after this John (admin) and I rushed down to the far end and watched the hot roads and rally cars leaving - I was so pleased to see so many of them being driven out - I don't have time for "trailer fairies" (no offence Martin M!)

Thanks to Jon for organising a really great few days. Rupert made it back to London passing quite a few broken down classics at the side of the road:D one of them a darksider.[8D]

Jon thanks for calling me last night but it was not Ruperts brakes leaking, may have been residue from the tyre cleaner I used?

It was good to meet everyone and the Butchers Van, no excuses now Martin for not getting on with it!!

Ruperts revenge is underway!

Really good stand guys, well done!
My family and i popped up on Saturday and were greeted with welcome arms at the CommerVanFan stand and none of us noticed the porsche stand!
Would like to thank those there who made us feel a part of something special - the same goes to all on the forum too!

Dave and family (Lauren, Anne, Ron & Steven)

Added note, My friend steve came onto the stand with his wheelchair and said "It's one of the few stand i can get onto and look around"
The misses; Lauren said "ahhh so that's what it looks like without the rust, pretty little thing"

On epic before I look at the rest on the camera
