Hi Nancy, Keep up the good work girl, you're doing a grand job[8D]

Probably a bit dark to try now, but can you see if you get any smoke from exhaust when it starts chugging? She had sign of anything nasty following you yesterday - might help rule out some nastier engine symptoms if it stays clear.[?]

I am keeping everything crossed that it something minor - Bessie gets intermittent power troubles which vary in cause from gunk in the fuel tank getting sucked through, slightly worn rotor arm which build up crud on it very quickly after cleaning (must remember to get round to getting one from speedy spares:I) and other such minor throttle cable woes - all having big effect on power but easy and cheap to sort.

May the force be with you and

:):):)GO TRAMPER!!!:):):)

OK...
the sign infront of me says brighton 10, i've got about 5 miles to do on top of that to get to me mums gaff. :D:D:p

yay, think I started pushing it a bit though, she started chugging again... if she does it again in the next 15miles, i'll try the choke... but it has seemed to help to gentle pump/flutter the accelerator when she chugs. which i guess is doing the same job of getting extra fuel in..
so, if answer is starvation of fuel, why is this happening ?

I don't think its anything to do with what we did yesterday as the problem was occuring before I got to hatton.
and I think the only reason it didn't do it yesterday is because although I clocked up alot of miles, we did no more than 15 in one go, and without much speed so the engine wasn't really tested working hard and hot.

The pinking gets alot worse and constant when she is tired.
It feels like the engine is having to work alot harder than it should be without gaining much speed.?

I dunno, she's got me to brighton anyway, unless something drastic happens in the last few miles...:)
please keep me informed if any further brinwaves connected to the problems arise, or any more advice on what to have checked out.

i'll post again before bed, to confirm my safe arrival to destination. :)

thanks heaps for the time and advice,
like I said the journeys been relatively stress free and much easier with the forum chat. hoorah for mobile internet.
and a bigger hoorah to the forum and you guys....:D:)[:X][:X][:X]

Fingers and everything else crossed :I How can one person have so much fun in one day. Remember it's not the destination but the jouney that counts ;)

go girl welldone [^]perhaps points ? get an electronic ignition ?
2 of the commers I have bought, had pegs (yes for pegging out the washing)holding the choke slightly open,as soon as I took away the peg they would chug!or die?
also get an inline fuel filter cheap & easy to fit.
surely can't be the engine?
auto electrician could put your mind at rest or find the fault.
don't go getting upset with tramper hes great :D

Good luck Nancy, will be thinking of you tonight

I really hope that you can solve Trampers troubles and stay together, but if you do need to part then at least she stands a good chance of finding a good home now we've seen and fallen in love[:X]

night night, when you get there, sleep tight :)

yay, made it to mums about an hour ago.:D
last 15miles ok, but did chug, tried pulling out the choke, didn't seem to make any difference, pumping acelerator helped, but engine still died to a stand still on hill..!!
[?][?][?][?][?][?]
something blocking fuel getting through?
[?][?][?][?][?][?][?

i dunno, but reached destination, so all good for now...

good on her for getting me here.
thanks for the support both moral and mechanical.

good night, I'm gonna soak in bath and head to bed...

[:X][:X]

ohhhh! [^]
bit big for me, but maybe something along these lines could be senible.
it would take a bit of work to make the interior feel like home...
but with a wood burner, a lick of paint and me blankets, it could be cosy...[?]
but where's the character and the spirit... can I really let a modern engine and speed outweigh charisma and style???
be interesting to see how much it goes for...

only really know about diesels, but the chugging does make me think you've got a lack of fuel getting to the engine - had the same thing with my (diesel) engine, finally traced to an extra filter I'd added that'd got blocked, restricting the flow of fuel.

probably a lot less than if you listed tramper [:0]
she is great full of charm....but you need to be more tidy [:0]nite nite ;)

[:0][:0][:0] tehehehe ;)

I own too much stuff for it to be possible to be tidy...
what I really need to do is chuck some out..
no wonder she doesn't go very fast..!!! [:0]

hi nancy. pleased you got to your mums. ralph used to chug you would put your foot down and it would feel like the engine was coughing. i tried everything and in the end it was the points, solved it by replacing the distributor and electronic ignition. In the process tried new air filter new electric fuel pump and line and filter new HT system. It was really frustrating because mechanics used to say well they dont go very fast anyway. I know they dont go fast but less than 50 is riduculous. I also think that it doesnt matter if you are slow if you are on a dual carriageway because anyone can overtake you then. you pay the same road tax !

well done nancy, you and tramper are stars :D
could also be the fuel tank breather may be blocked causing the tank to vacuum :(

Good to hear you got home ok, all part of the fun though i reckons, a bit of fear to make the journey more an adventure! [}:)]..best you find your mechanic and fix her up!...keep us updated wont you! :D

After just reading of your troubles Nancy, Im glad to hear that u got there in the end.. :)
Perhaps you could turn out an adventure travel book,
Travel with Tramper..:D
Stick with it & Good luck with the repairs..
