My new ride

Hello, havent been on here for a while, been ultra busy with other things :(

Commer got some attention for the first time in ages, finally started hacking it into pieces out back! And found less rust than expected, i was thinking it would be far worse!

Screen is out (its for sale too)

And finally, you can see some of the metal i found for the dolly i am going to make for the commer:

hoping to make more progress over the christmas period, hopefully wont get too drunk and use powertools at the same time :I

Great to see progress[^] and not half as bad as some we've seen. The rear box sections look almost solid.

yeah it seems i have found a commer with a superb chassis, and a ****e top!
That box end will get a clean down, and new metal welded on the end, the rest is so good there isnt much need to do anyhting else other than a load of waxoil. Hoping to have our new sandblasting setup come early next year, then i can really crack on underneath! Itll be fully cleaned back and treated :)

Yeah that was the kind of stuff i was intending on using :) then a coat of that anti stone chip paint too, seems to work well on other cars i know of. Can you weld through aquasteel? or is that another primer? I presume aquasteel isnt pourus like other primers?

Right, im not dead... just been ultra busy!

Mini passed its mot and is now back to its very happy owner :)

My Audi was getting a touch tired, so after much deliberation on such a small budget (well compared to everybody else it seems), i decided to buy this:

Saab 9-3 Tid Vector Sport with many extras on it :) got it for a rather nice price too :)

Unfortunately that has meant my time has been focused on that:

Swapped out alot of the Audi bulbs and stuff, fitted all new speakers, inc amplifying them and fitting a sub (these saabs are reknowned for terrible speakers and lack of bass), fitted some leds in the door handles, soundproofed the doors (saab forgot to do that) and various other things. Love it :)

I now have a touch more time on my hands, so as of today, the commer will start getting some love again! Been rebuilding the nearside rear corner (behind was pretty nasty so i made my own panels). Im hoping to get both corners rebuilt this week if all goes to plan! Really looking forward to getting going on it again, unfortunately all my passion and drive for it disappeared over christmas :( not to worry!

Pics to follow soon, cant find my little digital i keep in thw workshop, so i shall drag out the slr!

Ha ha thanks, i dabble in photography as a hobby, was doing it at uni but they sucked the life out of it for me so i switched to publishing for design instead.

Here's my flickr, i dont really update it often but theres a few things from a while ago on there:

Passenger side rear arch has now been cut out so i can access some ultra nasty rotten bits to repair, seems weird removing something good! It'll be cleaned down (inside is a bit flaky bit solid) and refurbished whilst its out :) time to make some more of my own panels again!

Ha ha cheers Panky :D

My latest big hole...

Home made inner panel tacked in, yeah its shady looking but its hidden:p

So yes, plenty of work to be getting on with there! Whats the inner panel that sits behind the lower sides of the van called? I have the outer fluted panel, so im guessing its an inner sill? Has anybody got photos of the profiles of a non rotten one? i guess im going to have to fabricate my own :)

Yeah i just had a look at wolfys coventry panel place, but i cant really afford to spend that much right now, not that they are expensive, its just im currently on a very tight budget due to buying the saab! Im happy to try and make my own panels, i have the sheet steel so its just a case of having some sort of pattern

I meant a look at some of their work to see new panels being put in.We know what you mean about having the money to to buy stuff it's nice to make your own though.
your getting stuck in [^]

Oh i see! yes i shall have a peek at their work! Looks like a home made sheet metal bender is on the cards, been looking into it, and it seems easy enough to make one myself :)

Ha ha yeah, you are more than welcome to poke about :) its a bit of a tip in there right now, got my commer, a bmc mini tractor and a seat toledo sitting in there... got to make space for a massey 165, a saab 9000 (going to donate some parts to the commer) and a pug 205! So good having my own proper space at last :)
