Cheers guys. Will go pick them up tomorrow. Now to start the fun bit, putting everything back in the van. I mentioned it earlier in the thread but im still a little clueless when it comes to carbs. The engine feels like its fuel starved when i'm driving but i've sorted the fuel pump and its getting plenty to the carb. Wondering if my old zennith is just a bit nackered. Would something like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330759009145?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_500wt_1363 fit with out much modification of is it one of those things that if its worth doing its worth doing properly.
 
If they're knackered they usually dump too much fuel in:I It maybe it just needs a good clean out. I wouldn't bother with the Stromberg, SU is the way to go with a modded inlet manifold[8D]

I did have it taken apart and cleaned by someone last summer but it doesn't seem to have made much difference. Would be nice to have something i could straight swap myself for now and if i have money in a year or so upgrade to a modded inlet. I finish uni in 6 weeks and i'm hoping to get away for a few weeks in her as its been 3 years in the making and im going to burst haha
 
I'll have to drop colin a massage and fingers crossed he still has it :) Looking forward to bringing her down to the meets when she's finally done

The holbay engine has twin carb i think. I'm not sure at all tho. I'm assuming the blocks different but would be cool if you could stick the inlet of a rapier on with the twin carbs. Pankys custom manifold was a work of art tho.
 
The normal Rapier engine runs twin Strombergs, Commer Jules has this set up on his Holbay. Unfortunately they won't fit on the standard iron head as the porting is different:I The blocks are actually the same, it's the head and camshaft that differs.

Ahh thats unfortunate, Would have been nice if it was a straight swap. I've still got the kenlow fan to stick on and an rc40 exhaust when i get my hands on one so maybe that will be a few more horses. top speed at the moment is around 30 with the wind behind, downhill
 
Just seen this on ebay thought i'd check it was the right kind before i buy what could prove to be a big paperweight :) Colin managed to get rid of his but he gave me some splendid advice and mentioned i should be able to make the swap myself.

Also does anyone know where i might be able to get insured as most places don't seem to keen on someone under 25. even the usual suspects like footman james arnt to keen despite driving for almost 7 years with no accidents :(
 
It looks to be the right type so hopefully you can re-jet it. There was a posting somewhere on the subject, I think it was Andy Thowman - I'll have a look.
